South Africa even worse. It’s an interesting situation imo. The same policies that a lot of tech people in the US are supporting are the one that put in place a system that we ended up with. Where firing someone takes excessive effort and mediocrity and entitlement
becomes common.

I have seen this selling solutions. On losing a deal a salesperson would tell me: "Don't worry, once they fail, they will come back running". But that won't happen. Tech decision maker seldom admit their mistakes. Whatever needs to change must change to make the choice they made work.

I had the same experience and sort of gave up, but am using Claude now and I must say I am impressed. It does think that you can do if else if in elixir though.
