forgot to say that being knowledgeable also extends to the game itself like there people with excellent energy but they are like d9 so while their delivery is superb i listen to the actual analysis given and scratch my head

if we are popping off in groups r2 i will get tired by the end of the tournament, energy needs to be relative to the stakes, and that cant artificially be drummed up

tone is also important, i find that people’s voices are pretty flat in comparison to other esports where ppl are growling on the mic

clear, concise, clever, and knowledgeable

i can see whats happening on screen already, so deliver it to me with some flair

the best talent to work with are those that research in advance, or just ask the TO for materials to work with - two way street there

I've filtered out for low activity players (no ranked tournaments in 90 days) and yeah the separation between pass and fail for +2 is pretty god awful, it doesn't even make sense

tldr skill cap is meaningless and jared has the right idea

if it would be worthwhile to have players earn qualification (teams qualify then players as individual are put into a player pool), then a group of top players can draft teams R4R style then nurture players they see potential in through playing this tournament With them like jared is doing now

not follow through on was a challengers event that earned you the right to get your ass kicked by a top level team in a showmatch, or something. i think the reward to win from whatever event has to be in relation to bridging the gap between midlevel and high/top level, so as i write this i wonder

theres definitely that missing step because you get thrust into the unknown post low ink with no real tangible goals until you achieve + or a weekly win, neither of which are easy feats. so creating a stepping stone to strive to accomplish would be pretty important, and an idea we floated but did

putting an artificial ceiling over the players' head. i was pretty confident making the players feel cool (production) was the answer when i was running sac but ego is systemic and incurable so theres not much excitement out of beating players that are only marginally better than you at best

in prev ipl meetings we've referred to these events as 'crown tournaments' (think lsl [rip] ftiu and li) where you need to win or be banned from them to 'graduate' into the next area of play. i think midlevel could use something similar, but for aspiring TOs i dont think the solution is simply

i will note that with sac i think midlevel players are at a point in their development that the benefit from fighting players equivalent or below in skill is little in comparison to when they fought in low ink vs their peers, since now the gap between them and weekly warriors is not insurmountable

i know decerux growling is the highlight of the clip but i also really appreciate the colour commentator in the background going "oh???" and such without contesting decerux's call, nor does decerux allow himself to be interrupted by it so it blends together very nicely
