People are saying this has never been done before, but I have DEFINITELY seen a player strike out 10 players on the opposing team while hitting 3 home runs in a single game, just like Shohei Ohtani did last night.

Of course, it was Little League...

What did the Dodgers and Phillies fans do to deserve this horrific announcing team on TV?

They are beyond awful.

Alonso's hitting would be very hard to replace, and maybe he's the 2nd defensive liability the Mets can afford (since Soto is anchored in). But that means Baty and Vientos should be fighting for a DH spot, and Nimmo and McNeil need to find a way to get better.

Or this team is going nowhere. Again.

(And don't get me started on the Mets pitching staff. Watching a Marlin score from SECOND BASE ON A WILD PITCH because Holmes couldn't move his ass 60 feet to the plate capped off a horrific defensive year from a rotation that obviously considers practicing defense beneath them.)

Because the Mets aren't even counting "weak" fielders -- they have to count their few GOOD fielders. Lindor and Alvarez are fielders any team would be happy with, but otherwise... the good fielders are all guys that don't play much. Taylor, Acuรฑa, Torrens are great defenders but don't play much.

02.10.2025 00:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

The Mets, though, have these compromises all over the field, in a league that gives them a DH to hide their worst fielder! I can't think of any MLB team in history that has threatened to win a championship with that many defensive liabilities.

Every other guy playing for the Dodgers (except arguably Teoscar Hernandez) fields very well. But, Max stands out as a Dodger, and he's a way better fielder than Vientos, or Baty, or (dear god) Alonso).

The Dodgers decided this one guy's hitting justifies a weak point in their defense. One.

My wife is a Dodgers fan, so I see a lot of their games. In Max Muncie, the Dodgers have a guy on 3rd who hits like crazy but is a mediocre fielder. And he STANDS OUT on that team. He's the 1 guy on the field that their fans clench their teeth when the ball is hit his way.

Hallelujah!! Had the Mets had even mediocre fielders on the corners, the Mets win at least 5 more games this year.

You can't win championships with terrible fielders on 1st, 3rd, and Right Field, plus mediocre fielders with limited range on 2nd and in Left Field.

In a sane country with competent leadership, the 50 highest-ranking Democrats would call a press conference to denounce what just happened as a threat to the republic and demand Trump's immediate impeachment and removal from office.

I don't know he could make his intentions more clear.

Management has to take a hard look at this no-heart, anti-clutch roster, and make some brutal decisions. The Mets need a Jose Iglesias kind of leader to provide some spirit, and they need to field a team that doesn't have 4 (or more) defensive liabilities.

I watched today's Mets game trying to root them to the postseason. But to be honest, this team, right now (and over the last 6 weeks) couldn't win a series against any team that made the playoffs.

There's part of me that's relieved I don't have to watch them get swept in LA.

Baty lost at least 2, and arguably 4 games with terrible plays in late innings. He's talented, and in early innings he's a solid fielder and a strong hitter.

But when the pressure's on, he makes the wrong plays on defense and swings at pitches more than a foot outside the zone.

Every team has a guy on the roster who is weak in defense, but you keep him on the field for his bat.

The Mets have Alonso, Vientos, Baty, and Soto who are absolute liabilities in the field, McNeil and Nimmo who are sure handed but with very limited range.

Weak fielding loses too many close games.

Siri can't hit, so if he can't play defense, lets DFA him in the 5th inning and get literally anyone off the AAA team up.

Pete cranks another homer, which is a great start, but I have to believe thereโ€™s some kind of strategy that lets the Mets score, other than a solo home run.

Maybe Iโ€™m crazy. Maybe this team has no capacity to score other than swinging out of their shoes with no one on base.

The Mets play offense like a solo homer is worth 3 runs.

That attitude is admirable, but only really works if the folks disagreeing with donโ€™t hand the stated and demonstrated goal to prevent you from living in that shared space.

It is really hard to defend, particularly in hindsight, but from Roberts' viewpoint, there's really nothing in this game that's more important than Ohtani being healthy for the post-season.

Are you telling me that the people who make tv shows/movies voted for the tv show about making movies to win all the "making tv shows" awards?

Shocked. I'm totally shocked.

Keep in mind that these conditions were inflicted on absolutely, inarguably legal (documented) immigrants here to build a factory to create American jobs.

Imagine how badly undocumented immigrants are treated.

My dad first signed up for Twitter to follow live sports and heโ€™s a freak about U of I. One day he said to me โ€œTwitter is abuzz about Illini golf,โ€ and I was like dude you only follow Illini sports accounts. And thatโ€™s how every reporter feels Charlie Kirk was the most important person in the world.

FWIW, they are showing that the iPhone Air has nearly all of its hardware (other than the battery) in the "plateau", so if the iPhone Pro has its hottest components there, maybe cases that let the plateau "breathe" will cool just fine.

I'm interested to see how this plays out.
