I was a defender of sending Marte on that game they lost, but Pete is notoriously slow, and that ball was hit really sharply to a shallow right fielder.
Shame on the 3rd base coach.

Garrett brought in to stop the bleeding, and sticks a knife in the other limb.
#Mets are killing me.

11.08.2025 20:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's hard to believe, but Lindor's defense might actually be slumping worse than his offense.
It's probably his catastrophic lack of hitting getting in his head, but he's got to put that aside when he puts on the glove.
The goddamn winning run.
09.08.2025 03:24 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This feels a lot like April and May of 2024. No energy on offense, and they play defense like a single-A team.
With Lindor even slumping on defense, every ground ball is a nail-biter.
Absolutely. The odds of Marte scoring there is WAY higher than the odds of Alvarez getting a hit against a closer like Megill.
09.08.2025 03:06 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0AI is capable of making things that are very impressive, as long as you don't care if they are correct.
This may change in the future, but it's the fundamental description of AI right now, and why it's actually a horrible solution for anything other than some cosmetic things.
"Zohran Mamdani is a job-killer, not a job-creator," continued Andrew Cuomo. "Not like me. I've created jobs. Mortuaries, mass grave facilities managers, trauma therapists, pepper spray salespeople, sexual assault hotline operators -- they'll all tell you. That's what I told my good friend Don."

09.08.2025 02:22 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0After an error, a catchers interference, and 2 walks in the same inning, Raley hits a batter on a bases loaded 0-2 pitch to gift the Brewers their 3rd run.
This #Mets team just might be a sociology experiment, creating the most frustrating baseball team to root for.
This story in particular is a great resource to read, bookmark, and share with your networks outside of Bluesky. Let's make Lex's dream come true by clicking through and sharing widely!

If a pitching staff gives up 3 runs in 2025, the loss is not the pitchers' fault.
This is particularly true on a team with a $320+M payroll.
Tonight's problem wasn't the pitching. It's the same problem since June: Pete is the only one who ever hits when the chips are down.
06.08.2025 01:44 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Last year, Lindor got credit for calling a players-only meeting after an embarrassing series w/the Dodgers & they turned it around. After this year's great start they had a similarly miserable series vs the Dodgers and it's been downhill ever since.
Where's that players-only meeting? They need it!
It's infuriating. I'm still very happy with my 2016 Model S (bought before I knew how crazy Elon is, and when there were very limited EV options), but I'll never buy another one.
That car came with lifetime free supercharging and free cell service, so every day I drive it costs Elon money. ๐
Outside of the Elon insanity making Tesla owners embarrassed, their Service took a major about-face around 2019. Before that it was friendly and easy to access (if very expensive), but at some point it became "contact only through the app", and those texts are only answered about once per day.
05.08.2025 04:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Ramon de Jesus is one of the #MLB Umpires whose name you know, which means he's often not good, but tonight he's been particularly rough. The circled pitches weren't close, and two in the same at-bat? Robo-umps for balls and strikes, please!
05.08.2025 03:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I feel the same way. A team that plays defense this badly can't get far in the playoffs. Even Lindor, normally a gold glove candidate, is having a really rough year in the field.
05.08.2025 02:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0So bad all around. Even Lindor is letting his hitting woes impact his defense -- two balls wound up in the outfield that he needed to get in front of, even if he doesn't make the out.
And Baty needs to go.
Putting Vientos and Baty on the corners in late innings is insanity -- a bunt up either line is as likely to result in a ball thrown to the outfield as an out.
The Nimmo/Soto/Lindor hitting slumps make you want to try the young bats, but these two are established defensive liabilities.
I mean, Nimmo lays down a bunt, or even grounds softly to the right side, this game is over.
05.08.2025 01:55 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0There's no way to see Baty as a net positive for the #Mets. Gives up as many runs on defense as he knocks in.
Send him down and don't bring him back up if he can't field one position without being an obvious liability.
Acuรฑa may not hit, but plays great defense & can be an excellent pinch runner.
Nimmo must have a religious objection to advancing a runner on 1st with no outs. Nothing but swings for the fences, even after striking out his previous 3 at-bats.

The heart of the post: AI is bad at simple things where you can easily determine if it is incorrect, but โastonishingly goodโ at things that are difficult to check.
Or as I like to say, โCapable of generating very impressive things, as long as you donโt care if they are right.โ
I wouldnโt change it if I could. But maybe thereโs someone else out on BlueSky thatโs feeling the same way, a little sad we wonโt get an ending to that great story.
03.08.2025 07:36 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0So while Iโm incredibly excited for what Brennan will bring to Critical Role Campaign 4, thereโs a bittersweet note for me โ at this level of success, itโs impossible to imagine Brennan taking time from CritRole, or Dimension 20, or Worlds Beyond Number to work on finishing SFP.
03.08.2025 07:36 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0And they continued to blow me away: Calamity and Downfall changed what people could expect from D&D. The Deep Dark is so amazingly good that I canโt even put it in words (That page with โYou will have to trust meโ โ OMG!!).
And with each success, the ending to SFP moved a little farther away.
