I’ve been enjoying the most recent run, Age of Monsters by Phillip Johnson that followed Cates run. Feels like it has a lot of great Bernie Wrightson influences in the artwork too by Nic Klein.

That’s what I’m interested in and that’s what has value. Not enough people in positions of power are willing to actually do something.

So I don’t follow any Canadian Conservatives but their posts sometimes appear in my feed. It’s not unique to just their party, but when I do see their posts it’s consistently complaining about the other party. My question is always “what would you do differently and what have you been doing?”

Picked up this comic, Leonide the Vampyr by Mike Mignola, Rachele Aragno, & Dave Stewart, for $1 and it was so good! Reads like a classic horror poem and has beautiful artwork!

Drew a few backing board sketches that are going to be given away as part of a fellow artist’s Kickstarter campaign that ended a few months ago. Drew a few characters from his comic book and was pretty fun to do!

It’s all about money and power, conducted in the secrecy of a golf course.

Golf is often used for business meetings because nothing is recorded during those interactions, unlike ones in an office.

Saw Superman tonight and really enjoyed it. Wasn’t perfect but enjoyable, and more than that I think that for a number of reasons this will become a new generation’s Superman.

Embodying the goodness and adhering to the morals of the character, which is one of the powers of the comicbook medium.

Last month I was in Paris and visited Musee D’Orsay. They had a special exhibit with French poster art that included original Mucha drawings and posters. I felt the same way -so much detail & life that is only communicated by seeing it with your own eyes.

My walls were decked out in movie posters I’d get from the video store for free, like this one of Grosse Point Blank.

I love the pocket dog, available in Calgary, Alberta. A sausage style dog, often a spulombo Italian or bacon/ cheddar smokie, stuffed into a freshly cored baguette, and with cheese sauce, mustard, and or ketchup drizzled inside the baguette before adding thr smokie.

Local comic book creator, Caleb Hildenbrandt, has the second issue of his comic Siloh listed on Kickstarter & he asked me to illustrator a variant cover for his book.

The Chief of Police in Calgary and two Deputy Chiefs all immediately stepped down with no reasons given, and so far it seems the local press isn’t questioning any of it. Doesn’t that seem a little off?

Drew a couple of sketch cards for fun last night to test out a repeater stamp I bought last month. I brushed some watered down India ink onto the stamp for the background on the Spider-Man drawing and used white acrylic paint for the daredevil card. Pretty cool effect that was easy to create.

A few photos from this past weekend’s Calgary Fan Expo. Picked up the Captain Canuck vs Trump comic, a few comics from local creators, a set of repeater stamps (very unique!), and saw some great cosplay.

A few more of the Fantastic Four comics I picked up. All of these plus a small stack more only cost me $80, which is insanely good for Calgary.

great prices today. Went to a local comic sale and as per usual, most of the vendors were asking a lot for their comics except for one vendor way in the back. Regret not buying more comics from him now.

Makes me think of groups like Boko Horam. They conscript people in poor nations because those people have no future & they offer them something, even though it means murdering other people. It’s a big reason why USAID was so important -it gave hope to people that otherwise would’ve chosen terror.

You’d think they’d at least email loyal customers like myself to let us know. To thank us for our business and send us a list of what we’ve been ordering so we can take that to another shop. Instead they’re posting online about having lots of sales.

Found out the comic shop I have a box at is closing. Been ordering from them for almost 20 years and they didn’t send me an email or anything. Just happened on a Facebook post that they’re closing in April and no more new comics by the end of March. WTF?!

This is what a role model looks like.

Tomorrow should IMHO be about supporting small local businesses and giving the cold shoulder to Amazon and such everyday for the rest of your lives. That would make a difference.

never shop at stores or buy products that support this crap, and etc. Instead go out tomorrow & buy a book or comic from a local store, buy a coffee from that local place, and keep doing those things EVERYDAY.
