But also horrible taste that is at best a sad imitation of the actual grandeur that inspired it.

JNIM doesn't just expand geographically as Jules' map spectacularly shows but they also use a a diverse repertoire of violence for specific purposes. A recent example - which they announced - includes systematic attacks against strategic industrial facilities in Mali (sugar sector in particular)

Genuinely hilarious not to subpoena Donald Trump, who was close friends with Epstein for at least 15 years!

had Biden randomly wandered on the White House roof shouting at reporters about nuclear weapons, Jake Tapper would drop everything to pitch a new series of books and Hannity would anchor ongoing special coverage until 2029

but when Trump does it it's just Trump being Trump!

Interesting to see how the Malian press has gotten the message it's (sort of, tentatively) ok to talk about the Russian presence now: www.maliweb.net/insecurite/n...

This is the stuff I don’t get. Even if you believe in AI, you should *want* more human input, but AI boosters seem to want as little as possible.

The mathematics of starvation: how Israel caused a famine in Gaza | Gaza | The Guardian Israel controls the flow of food. It calculated how much Gaza needs – but data shows how this is being withheld

This, but for every leftist approvingly citing Carl Schmitt.

This is the stuff that gets to me. Even if Dems win big in 2026 and 2028, it will take decades to undo the damage.

Research in the Sahel has become extremely difficult. This doesn't stop excellent scholarship and reports from being published, authored by super bright people. Here's a flurry of recent, fascinating stuff 👇

When I saw the announcement yesterday, I wondered how the Pentagon would react to Jen's hire. She is a West Point alum and cyber security star. But apparently doesn't meet Dan Driscoll's standards.

I think it's very bad for our society that simply opposing the mass starvation of civilians is treated as a controversial stance.

Amid rising starvation in the Gaza Strip, an Israeli government minister said on Thursday that Israel had no duty to alleviate hunger in the territory and was seeking to expel its population.
Amichay Eliyahu, a far-right lawmaker who leads Israel’s Heritage Ministry, said in a radio interview that “there is no nation that feeds its enemies,” adding that “the British didn’t feed the Nazis, nor did the Americans feed the Japanese, nor do the Russians feed the Ukrainians now.” He concluded that the government was “rushing toward Gaza being wiped out,” while also “driving out the population that educated its people on the ideas of ‘Mein Kampf,’” an antisemitic text written by Adolf Hitler.

pretty telling comment here. Britain and America absolutely did feed and clothe Nazi and Japanese POWs during WWII. and they provided food and supplies to occupied territories as the war was won. the Hunger Plan by contrast was a Nazi thing

The lengths to which they’re going to deflect attention from Epstein, after spending years stoking it as an issue, really suggests some stuff in the documents that’s more damaging than what’s already known. And we already know a fair bit.

I’d genuinely enjoy someone asking Trump how Obama and his allies were able to rig the 2020 election (when they weren’t in power) but was unable to rig the 2016 and 2024 elections, when they were.

Dems need to hammer this point home starting now, that Trump is corruptly maneuvering to get Maxwell to lie on his behalf.

Ambassadorial capture is a real thing, but I’m having a hard time recalling another ambassador being such a full-throated public cheerleader for the countries they work in.

Beyond the shameful symbol of Trump asking Liberia’s president where he learned to speak English so well, it’s so embarrassing that they had him, on live TV, asking each African leader present to say their name and what country they’re from.
