Gotta win a few runs before I can get a fully formed opinion on it but I'm liking these fairy pieces more than I expected

I'm a few rounds into Ouroboros King and really liking it. Visually it sticks close to a typical chess UI, it makes it very easy to check how pieces move (mousing over shows their possible target squares) and the opponent engine is fairly forgiving so far.

Yeah honestly if you're making normal chess just grab an existing open source chess engine (stockfish is right there)

The thing about making a chess engine is that you're wrong about what parts are hard. You'll start out thinking "oh no, en passant!" en passant isn't going to be the hard part. It's going to be pawn promotion. You're going to hate pawn promotion.
