Fish scientist by day; local theater performer, novel writer, knitter, audio drama voice actor, and hula dancer by night. No wonder I'm so exhausted. She/her.
What the ever loving hell ๐ฌ
Oooooooof
I composed a song, recorded it w/ a $100 recorder, scored it w/ audacity & MuseScore. When the audio drama director needed the situation the song was used in to change, I was able to pivot & make tweaks to the lyrics.
I don't work in the music industry. I'm nowhere near wealthy.
Just my own brain.
Every sci-fi show has a "whoops we've swapped bodies" episode.
Farscape is by far my favorite, because they had the guts to do what no other show did.
"You walked a mile in my shoes, I walked a mile in your pants..."
My greyhounds chattered when they were happy! My boy dog somehow managed it even when he had no teeth left!

โBeating people up in little roomsโฆhe knew where that led. And if you did it for a good reason, youโd do it for a bad one. You couldnโt say โWeโre the good guysโ and do bad-guy things.โ
Rincewind, but also Granny Weatherwax. She wanted to be the bad one, damnit, but since she's been cast in the role of good she'll fucking grit her teeth and get the work done.
26.01.2026 03:47 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Omg I'm so sorry. My care's simple by comparison, but I had the same issue last year. My cardiologist went from 5min away to 90min away. I had to go 90 miles for a diagnostic blood draw. Which was SO DUMB because my work could have told our insurance co "treat it as in network" and they just DIDN'T
23.01.2026 03:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Image of a text convo. Person 1: "Tree came down east of [redacted]. I was 5th car back. Bunch of us got out and 3 guys had chainsaws. We cleared it in about 20 minutes. Got soaked... but got back on the road. lol" Person 2: It wouldn't be Oregon if 3 out of 5 cars weren't carrying chainsaws ๐ I might be one of them myself if I hadn't been a coward and had bid on that mini chainsaw at the Christmas party!!
Life today lol
On the upside, I am collecting a lot of rainwater to use for my new little Carnivorous Plant Child for whom tap water is apparently deadly!
I don't regret winning CPC at the silent auction, but the chainsaw might have been nice too...
Ha! I totally forgot I've sung two different arrangements of this text - I've done this version too ๐
youtu.be/bpPz82qtwpQ?...
This is the version I pulled out of the deep freeze in my memory. Chills, still. (Not my group, just an example of the arrangement)

It is astounding to me, with my Swiss cheese memory, that I can see the title "Bogorรณditse Djรฉvo" & instantly remember the song - even though the last time I sang it was in high school & that was decades ago.
I don't have the words (I don't speak russian) but I can hum my part & all the others.
The world may be sliding backwards, the Internet is enshittifying by the hour, but at least it has all come together to allow me to venmo 10ยข to my boyfriend to "share the windfall" of the 20ยข refund check I was sent from my orthodontist.

Nope. You need to be out there with the Big Voice, and if they don't pop up? You freaking get started anyway.
Oof.
It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but the noise and the backache made me hit my limit and I had to nope out before the silent auction ended. No clue if I won! ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
Big social events need a stage manager.
Like, an actual, from-the-trenches stage manager.
One who either has a voice loud enough to stop traffic or is able to deputize someone who does.
Wandering around aimlessly looking for the One Person to Get This Started a good 15min LATE?
Caelocanth!!!! ๐
I have a reminder in my calendar to snag one as soon as they drop!!

And we're definitely entering the stormy season.
So not only will they be terrorizing innocent people, their "base" forcing the chopper 100 miles away will endanger the lives of fishermen (and tourists who continue to turn their back on the ocean...)
Again, this is such utter bullshit. ๐คฌ

I'd be all over that Bon Mamon one, and i'd have to spend a lot of time deciding on a knitting/yarn one, and then there's always the Inkvent calendar, too...

Just unsubscribed from a company's emails & was very happy there was a "why did you unsubscribe?" question with an "other" field. I was able to put "I do not purchase from our support businesses that use AI".
Thanks for outlining your "new, great feature" in your email update! Buh Bye! ๐ซก
It's November, so even though the official organization has imploded, I'm still writing a book.
i just used the word "gloat" in my novel and holy hell, why does it look like it's something i just made up? That can't be a word. Gloat gloat gloat. It's a glowing goat.
The little girl in full rain gear, wet hair plastered flat, only the necklace peeking out of her coat speaking to her costume, absolutely LIT UP LILLKE THE SUN when I said "Happy Halloween, Katara!" ๐ญ
31.10.2025 20:33 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It's a hoot! My fae is flummoxing kids by knowing what they're dressed as - I said "You're welcome, Master Chief!" & the little boy looked at me like I'd just spoken to him in the invented language only he was supposed to know ๐ Middle aged ladies aren't supposed to know about Halo, apparently!
31.10.2025 20:33 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I will say that last year I gave the kids the choice of Candy or Potato.
I ran out of potatoes in the first two hours ๐
This year it's candy or glow bracelet! I anticipate running out of bracelets first!
I so, so wish I could do this! But with literally over 1k kids trick or treating in my neighborhood, I just can't afford it. ๐ฎโ๐จ Luckily I have some amazing friends who donate candy to the cause, especially this year!
(Yes it's really over a thousand! ๐)
A local BUISNESS conducts a candy drive for us.
The last two years I've been in a play in October and cast mates who don't even have kids have brought me candy!
It's a safe place for kids to trick-or-treat. And the neighborhood steps up every damn year.
๐
Oh screw them! I live in a (middle class, non-HOA) neighborhood that consists of multiple cul-de-sacs. They close the road to cars, and people park in the nearby grocery store lots and walk in.
I routinely get *over 1,000* trick or treaters.
And you know what?
My friends donate money/candy
My insurance had to pay MORE because I had to set up with all new doctors and specialists, so instead of my yearly cheap check-in, I had to do a bunch of absurdly expensive "new patient" appointments.
And my main GP is still out of network because she's a freaking ANGEL and I refuse to leave her.
