One option is to stay up on the north side and take the 147 express bus. This route picks up along Sheridan Rd, gets on LSD at Foster, and runs express to MI Ave and drops you a very short walk to the NL. Easy down there in under 15 mins. We use this bus to go to the loop and it's fast & cheap.
