There is something more romantic about the sunrise and sunset viewed from a ship on the water. Even if it’s a ship that will never sail on the ocean.

Depends on the line and how far you are taking it. Line 1 is difficult in its own right due to being in the bow and going out the stem. In rough weather we just drop the hook.

Pretty, some things are just better when viewed from a ship

Yes it is very nice. I was expecting way more tougher work then what I’ve been doing so far.

It’s more laid back then I had expected.

It changes on the daily but each dock and lock we make I land on the Docks and handle lines. We carry raw materials like taconite, coal, limestone and salt.

Walking on deck so far isn’t a problem. Sleeping is the bigger issue, between the noise, vibration and the heater that roasts you alive.

Waking up at 4:30 for 5, which on ship means I got 30 minutes to get ready and head forward. that said I do have some time to check out the view, such as this one of Chicago.
