We're missing good quantitative social sciences data to back this up but my observation is pseudolaw adherents who are "true believers" & not just in it for easy money are already peculiar/fringe actors in some sense.

Sometimes that's political. Sometimes it's conspiracies. Or criminal affiliation.

Aside from the anti-vaxxer/pseudolaw interrelationship seems to be more:

(1) pre-existing and newly recruited community of those who resist conventional medicine and vaccines,

(2) who adopt pseudolaw as a method to counter state authority.

So, the worst of both.

& incoherence of pseudolaw gurus means LLMs are validating pseudolaw concepts & rejecting Canadian law. Fortunately no one is paying much attention to the gurus in question; they are now marginal players. Their videos demanding freedom of thought for LLMs are pretty comical. FREE CHATGPT NOW!

(4) Old-school pseudolaw gurus are intrigued by Large Language Model (LLM) AIs, and are using LLMs as sources for information and as mechanisms to validate their claims. The fact LLMs can be bullied or tricked by demands and claims by users and the incredible sloppiness...

None of the gurus are innovators, but exhibit & slightly remix familiar source influences, like New Age Freemanish flavours, small scale Moorish offshoots, and anti-debt schemes. Older gurus like Christopher James Pritchard (A Warrior Calls) who were highly active in the COVID-19 period are fading.

(3) The historic pattern of Canadian pseudolaw adherents orbiting a few key figures appears to have shifted. Instead, numerous new gurus have emerged, largely online, operating in the social space formerly occupied by COVID-19 mitigation and anti-vaccine activism.

Bogue’s groups claim to be recognized by the Canadian federal government, and have documentation to support that. Bogue’s groups have thus far been rejected by Canadian courts. Legitimate Indigenous groups continue to not employ pseudolaw. Expect developments on this front.

(2) As predicted, hybrid indigenous/pseudolaw claims are on the rise. Many of these claims and their conceptual basis are flowing from suspended Ontario lawyer Glenn “Spirit Warrior” Bogue, and illegitimate “Indigenous” groups and tribunals he influences and/or operates.

(1) Pseudolaw is increasingly deployed in family law disputes between partners/spouses. There never was any conceptual reason why that couldn’t occur, but the reason for this shift isn’t clear. I’m not seeing new gurus who are marketing to this niche, instead entry seems to be on many paths.

The article’s review ends in mid 2023. That’s when publication finalized. Since then there have been several interesting developments in Canada’s pseudolaw landscape:

My recent chapter “The Sun Only Shines on YouTube: The Marginal Presence of Pseudolaw in Canada” is now available online.

Subjects include Canadian pseudolaw from the 1950s, surveying numerous groups that have risen & disappeared, Canada-specific pseudolaw concepts (few), recent & peculiar trends.

I'm not going to comment in any detail on this publication, since this is pretty much a strictly US, "Sovereign Citizen"-based analysis/investigation. I don't have any special knowledge or expertise within this domain.

Interesting reading though!

Ballantyne v The King, 2025 TCC 127 rejects as a legal principle that Canadian income tax is calculated using a five-fold oxen multiplier of debts. Because that's what the Constitution of Canada recognizes, via God's Law.

Pseudolaw gurus aren't exactly the most eloquent persons I've met.

But Belanger is an unusually dismal example.

I'm delighted to share that judgment is still pissing off pseudolaw types. Here pseudolaw guru "minister" Edward Jay Robin Belanger is demanding ChatGPT reject that authority.

It doesn't.

It depends on the strength of the case against His Excellency. If it looks bad in the lawyer's opinion, the advice will likely be to take steps to minimize consequences.

That usually means pleading guilty, and flipping on a higher value individual.

The counter is Ricky seems pretty devoted.

I've located a new Canadian pseudolaw group, the "Sovran Indian Nation" and guru, "Chief Michael".

It's apparently a Moorish outfit trying to miracle away debts and such on Indigenous bases. More discussion here:

Pretty much what I anticipated, except that there are apparently no communications conditions between HRM Didulo and the cult.

I guess it was hard to find a basis for that.

It's more than a little grim the number of senior citizens, usually female, that HRM Didulo has ensnared.

But whether they'll remain truly loyal subjects after experiencing the Arcturian Shapeshifter first hand ... well, we'll see.

Gosh I'm long winded.

That would be highly unusual. Facilities like that are reserved for offenders who have been sentenced, incarcerated, and now are being returned to the public for re-integration.

In Canada, most offenders spend the last third of their sentences in such facilities.

Any time spent in pre-trial remand detention is usually subtracted from the final sentence (with a multiplier), so the Crown and judge had little basis to maintain indefinite detention up til trial if that would mean the final sentence after remand detention is nothing.

That's not really a surprise. In Canada, bail is default, and one of the factors that must be considered is whether or not the incarceration up to the trial will be so long that a sentence will be less than a plausible sentence.

Today HRM Romana Didulo proclaimed as she entered court for bail proceedings that she is only subject to "Natural Law", and so the court has no jurisdiction.
