Dear Obsidian, I promise firearms do not need both tubular and box magazines.

The New York pizza thing is wrong, but I remain tolerant.

The Naples, FL SSA field office is continuing its more than decade long tradition of being staffed by the rankest incompetents it has been my displeasure to work with.

Hey now. The right is supposed to be capitalizing on bilking people these days.

Yeah, but the actually useful kinds of AI aren't LLMs. Those were specifically what Lizard was commenting on.

LLMs are bullshit text generators. The only time I've found a use for them is when I was asked to generate some bullshit text. The better solution is not to ask for bullshit text.

If it was something like use of Relativity to search a big database that would be a whole different story.

He used an LLM to do it or he used some other form of AI? If I was on a jury I would reject evidence from an LLM. How am I supposed to know that it hasn't hallucinated the computer use history?

I dunno. Lawrence of Arabia is basically the same length as Once Upon a Time and I've lost track of how many times I've watched it. And unlike, say, the LotR extended editions, I've never popped the first disc in and then just not bothered to watch the second half.

Watching the old Derek Jacobi Cadfaels and the new priest in The Raven in the Foregate is just comically over the top evil. Disappointing lack of depth for an otherwise usually good show.

Ok, but you know this is BlueSky, right? Untreated mental illness is like half the vibe. People still manage to say “I’m going to stop now” and stop now.

Didn’t they say they were going to step away from this like three hours ago?

There is an, I suspect true story, in the fencing community about a younger competitor flying to a tournament whose equipment bag was getting some rough handling and asked the airport staff to stop because “if you shake them around like that they won’t go off.”

I don't think I ever noticed before that the pistol has a flip out bayonet and a hinged ramrod. All the early 19th century bells and whistles.

Yep, this is very similar to the one use case I've found for it.

I'm not at all interested in having small talk with deceased people.

I do frequently have moments of "I'd really love to be able to ask my dad/grandmother/etc about X," but it's always in connection with something I don't already know about them and wish I'd learned while they were alive. If I don't know, the AI isn't going to know either.

I feel like Geneva is the better joke if you get it, but too easy to miss.

I agonized far too long over the choice between Geneva and Helvetica there.

10.12.2025 18:26 — 👍 6    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Probably a violation of the Helvetica Convention.

Miami Herald Pub. Co. v. Tornillo, 418 U.S. 241 (1974) Miami Herald Pub. Co. v. Tornillo: Newspapers are not required to publish replies to an editorial with which people, such as the subject of the editorial, may disagree.

Statutes which would compel speech by "any organization that purports to provide news or other public information" wouldn't be an incredibly obvious violation of the First Amendment's free press clause?
I presume as part of your JD they didn't cover Miami Herald v. Tornillo?

And having particularized complaints about his public statements is, of course, not a legitimate reason in her book.

Yes, you finally did, an hour after it was pointed out that your first response was a deflection. It still demonstrates that deflection is your go-to response. That's the point.

Pile-on?

I'm not sure forensic investigation is a great career path for someone who is questioning whether there's any good to be found in humanity.

I'm simply shocked, shocked to learn that she would attempt to deflect from a question when she knows any direct answer will undercut her point.

You understand this is equally fatuous, yes? You have to actually grasp the critiques in order to be able to construct a productive reply.

A truly fatuous response to criticisms of a political leader.
