I promise I'm not going to complain about this anymore (today) but Readers' Advisory and Collection Development go. together. THEY GO TOGETHER! You don't have one without the other! If you're buying the books but nobody knows about them, you fail. If you want to tell everyone about the cool books

It begins today! #LibFaves25. When library workers from all over share their top 10 reads of the year; 1 a day for 10 days. Titles in all caps so volunteers can count them. I will be using the opportunity to highlight only horror titles so that they get included in the final tally.

Hello all, @thirdcoastrvw.bsky.social is having a fundraiser, and we're looking for Chicago-related prize donations from stores, publishers, creators, and the like. As Lit editor, I'm focusing on books, naturally, but as an arts and culture site, anything goes. Let me know if you're interested!

05.12.2025 15:16 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 6    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 3

Still looking for writers, publishers, and others who can donate to this worthy cause! Chicago writers, if you can spare an autographed copy of your book(s) that would be terrific. Natch, we'll add a shout out and link to your site.

Here's a lovely photo of a plethora of hand-sewn fabric art creatures. There's a watermelon creature with a red face, eight black seed-like eyes, and a wide mouth with five sharp teeth. There's a white ghost trinket bag covered with purple embroidered flowers. She has a gray face, sparkly black eyes and a little frown. There's a strawberry creature with three bulbous green eyes. There's a watermelon ghost, and a black creature with sharp teeth wearing a bulbous eye earring. There's a large purple creature with many yellow eyes and an open mouth, with a little green creature popping her head out. All the creatures are sitting on green fur and there's a galaxy print fabric in the background.

I don't care if a non-disabled person accesses a disability accommodation for the same reason I don't care if a child whose parents are rich gets free lunch at school. We don't need to means test being a kind person. I have better things to do with my time than be a cop over social services.
