I’m thinking today about all the women doing DEI work in universities, and how all of our canceled grants and shuttered initiatives means that not only are we losing the time we’ve already put in, we’re now even more behind our male peers who stayed focused on their research.

Heat map: Alaska, Hawai'i, Alabama, and Florida with the highest transmission. 11 states with little or no data.

Transmission is heating up, but notice that >20% of states have limited or no data.

In those with limited data (diagonal lines), the CDC mostly estimates transmission as "low" (light yellow), so there's a good chance estimates get corrected upward.

Full PMC report posts late tonight.

Every American should read this ACLU lawsuit about what is happening in Los Angeles and California. It is the stuff of dystopian nightmares. This is not immigration enforcement. It is positively stuffed with videos and articles documenting racial profiling on a scale unseen since Jim Crow.

Colorado’s top court rejects Big Oil’s arguments | Center for Climate Integrity A major ruling from the Colorado Supreme Court will allow the City and County of Boulder to move forward and ultimately put Exxon on trial for its climate deception.

Boulder's climate accountability lawsuit against ExxonMobil and Suncor Energy is moving closer to trial after the Colorado Supreme Court rejected the companies' arguments to dismiss the case.

I'm furious that the world no longer has access to the U.S. National Climate Assessment. I was a contributor to the 4th Assessment, watched the hard work of my White House colleague roll out the 5th, and I was the lead author of the Mitigation Chapter for the 6th Assessment before they dismissed us.

What we should really be talking about is how the steady warming of the planet--which will continue until carbon emissions cease--is leading to increasingly dangerous, damaging & deadly heat and weather extremes. That's where my messaging is focused right now.

Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

β€œIn Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.

I argue authors if anything OVERESTIMATED sensitivity of climate to greenhouse gases (literally the complete opposite of what Rogan & his ilk are claiming).

Understanding the New Power Plant Pollution Rules in the US The new rules target pollution control standards for coal and gas power plants established by the US EPA under the Clean Air Act in 2015.

The US Environmental Protection Agency has proposed to repeal all β€œgreenhouse gas” emissions standards for the power sector and amend the 2024 Mercury and Air Toxics Standards, moves that some legal experts have described as β€œillegal” and a threat to the health of millions of Americans.
