I actually remember, some time ago, when the collapsing empire came about, there was a _surprisingly_ close book that also came out that many people considered an attempt to be a knock off.

It was before I knew of @scalzi.com , and actually was what put him on my radar.

I really feel like at this point they just keep him in a room only viewing what they want him to see. Like he has his own personal fox news channel, while they run the place.

How do we break through this status quo?

AI assisted contributions are coming for all open source projects. It's better to have a framework for labeling and identifying it than having someone slide it in under the radar.

And looks like it's a rather rigorous framework at that to enable accountability.

So....
1) Fedora is not beholden to Red Hats whims... (See BTRFS for the best example of divergence)

2) Ethics of training aside (more work needs to be done there) Agentic AI assistance is amazing

3) Looks like Fedora is getting out in front, and setting the standard, so to speak.

As an elder millennial who listened to this, yes. It definitely felt like it was on that cultural edge.

I wouldn't suggest it as a 'first exposure', but to a scalzi fan, definitely a must read!

My biggest frustration here is that so many shortcuts were made for training data in the name of greed that this is going to be a huge stain on the reputation of actually valuable and socially beneficial AI use cases.

There really should have been thoughtful creation and governance of training data
