We were through there in July and it was really wild to see. I don’t think the photos can really explain just how much of the road is gone and how it feels like such a failure of infrastructure - it just goes on and on and on.

It bothers me because I hear over & over how there is no money for really inexpensive, important, known fixes. These signs aren’t free, & if I’m told a crosswalk can’t be painted but these can be magically printed & installed, it really gets my goat. Government is zero sum, and has to be picky.

There is a 10+ year old safety plan the city & BHN worked hard on for Belmont. Pedestrians cross where they cross because the safety plan was never implemented & the number of crosswalks don’t meet the demand needs. Legal zigzag car crossings are the real (documented) safety problem on Belmont.
