I am once again asking either Squenix to port (or some better fans than I to finish the fan translation of) Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3 Professional. I want it, I need it, give it to me please. Yes I know the non-Professional version has a good translation, but Professional has more good content!

This is probably unpopular but I'm gonna be really annoyed if Xenoblade Chronicles 2 gets a paid Switch 2 upgrade/Definitive Edition re-release. I don't want to have to buy it again to have it run with decent performance. It shouldn't be behind a paywall.
It already has enough content too.

The volume of content paired with the ways it forces you to change your views on the content you're playing through is INSANE. I think it sets a bar that no game dev will likely hit in the same way without bringing the more frustrating bits to the forefront.

Not only is this comedy from a game design perspective, but Skyrim has one of the absolute worst ui and menu systems I've ever seen to the point where even its biggest enthusiasts see menu mods as basically required qol

From what I've heard they basically refused to allocate a marketing budget for the movie so Mark had to rally his fans to make sure they knew when and where the movie was premiering.

This one was tough because in my head I know Lost Odyssey is not owned by Squenix but also in my heart I know that game is the RPG Squenix WISHES it was making in that era, so I kept catching myself typing it out and then having to delete it. Star Ocean is still my #1 though, gimme more Sci-fi RPGs.

Supposedly there's a big Pokémon showcase coming which may be what they're banking on if the rumors of a Gen 10 announcement are legit. Usually these kinds of years they announce a bunch of Pokémon Spin-offs too.

I would pay a reporter $150 cash if they responded to Trump deflecting real questions with insults by yelling back "Noted, now when are you going to answer a real question you fat, diaper shitting old fuck?" I'd triple it if it caused him to melt down on live TV.

Whoever decided the revive spells in Dragon Quest should have a high chance to fail needs to fuck off and get out of game design if they haven't already. Fighting a boss and trying to revive the only party member who can use Magic Barrier only to have it fail EIGHT TIMES is not good game design.

Overall though I'm extremely happy with this handheld and while it was VERY expensive as long as this device lasts me a few good years without issue I don't see any reason that I wouldn't get my money's worth out of it even within the next year or two.

Finally I think the control sticks are nice but using them simultaneously feels kind of off as well, though maybe this is just me and I'm fully aware I have very specific tastes in controller feel.

Not really a critique of the Thor, but the grip they sell isn't amazing and I wish it would more firmly attach to the Thor. As-is it kind of feels like it's sliding in my grip ever so slightly which can be off-putting. I might look into third party grips just to see if I can find one I like more.

In terms of updates to future iterations of the Thor, I think the triggers could use some tweaking for comfort though I'll let smarter people than I figure out better ways to do it. I think the all-glass bottom face of the device isn't necessary, just have the glass over the bottom screen itself.

I do see myself getting sucked into RPGs more than anything playing this, and am likely to continue my Dragon Quest shtick by starting DQ4 DS on the Thor once I've finished the HD-2D remake of DQ2 (Which I will be giving thoughts on soon hopefully).

Obviously I've spent more time tinkering than I have playing games with this thing, but I've already started playing games like Terranigma and Aria of Sorrow just to test out RetroAchievements integration with CL, and the UI for it is honestly real nice. Great integration, though iiSU's is similar.

I still have yet to try out using Cocoon or Beacon, however I wasn't too impressed by some of the demos showcasing them and am waiting on them to get some further enhancements before I dip my toes in other front-ends.

I've been testing launchers/front-ends for the system and currently while iiSU has been clearly making some progress I have to hand it to Console Launcher for quality and ease of setup. I can see iiSU being the king someday but Console Launcher is no slouch & other than some nitpicks has done well.

I've been the most impressed by the Gamecube and PS2 emulation so far because not only am I running these games at 4x resolution but I'm getting pretty solid 60fps across the board with minimal frame drops if any. Seriously, this think is a beast.

In terms of which systems this is best for, I would say you can basically get away with a good 90% of whatever you want easily, but systems newer than the Gamecube and PS2 you may run into issues with even assuming there's active emulators out for them. The 3DS emulation is a nice exception however.

After a couple days tinkering and fucking around with the Thor I've got a few opinions to share such as which systems I think work with this device, which launchers I think are best, & improvements I'd like to see future iterations have. For reference I am using a Thor Rainbow Max model. 🧵
