McSweeney going is good but it doesn't change what Labour leadership represents at the moment - shallow performative and lacking in vision while being openly contemptuous of the party it represents

For reference The Shard cost about Β£1.5bn to develop with construction costs under Β£500 million and has 112% of parliament's floor area and is a more expensive design.

The new highly secure US embassy cost about Β£1bn and is 42% of parliament's floor area.

Parliament revamp could cost Β£40bn and take 61 years MPs and peers are presented with two renovation options and told to make a decision by the mid-2030s.

How about we ask what another (sensible and modern) country would do and just do that instead?

Surely they would build a new modern parliamentary building for around Β£2bn and then repair the completely vacant historic building as a visitor attraction for about Β£3bn?

Jeffrey Epstein Co-Owned Venture Fund with Palantir Founder as it Entered UK Government The Russian connected convicted sex trafficker co-owned a fund with Peter Thiel, now embedded in Britain’s most critical infrastructure with the help of Peter Mandelson

"If Mandelson's links to Jeffrey Epstein disqualifies him from holding power, why does the company controlled by Epstein's business partner and co-owner retain access to the UK's most sensitive national security infrastructure?"

Peter Thiel. Jeffrey Epstein. Palantir. The UK Government.

Mahmood is bragging about reducing the (checks notes) Β£16m per year spent on taxis for asylum seeker's medical appointments.

That's 0.0013% of the budget.
It's one 18th of what the Tories paid Rwanda.

This is not serious government, it's headline hunting and it won't even help Labour one iota.

Most of our media is studiously ignoring the Epstein links to Brexit, Farage and far right populism. Farage is being touted for No.10. He wants an even more extreme Brexit. A race to the bottom to sell us out to this global network of oligarch crooks.
Why TF isn’t he being investigated and stopped?

Weird and almost universal revisionism today. Even at the time, it was pretty clear that Mandelson wasn't appointed *despite* his dodgy links but *because* of them. Trump's Washington is a dirty swamp. Mandelson was deemed a man able to swim in it. This wasn't a secret. Everybody said it out loud.

The UK has had worse state violence against it's own citizens in recent history than the US currently faces and it didn't implode.

But the UK is also not the US, it wasn't simultaneously attacking it's own constitutional order and wasn't a hyperpower going for territorial expansion. So πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
