Critique and dialogue are reflections of a healthy community and relationship. If your audience is critical it means they are smart and your work is probably pretty good and they hold you to a certain standard.

We think as we get better at something there will be less critique but actually there is more. There is never a point where you / your work will be universally loved. Instead, as your skill increases so does the skill of your audience in understanding your work and being critical of it.

When parents raise you to care about other people and then are shocked when, as adults, you care about other people.

One group perceives understanding as the key to morality and the other perceives it as action. This is why they think “thoughts and prayers” is worth a shit.

The key thing that studies show is one group is “I understand morals and right/wrong exist and act in line with what I consider right” and the other group is “I understand morals and right/wrong exist but act in line with my personal interests” and the second group thinks they are equally moral.
