If any other president said something like this in a speech to a military academy, it would be a massive scandal. Instead, it isn’t among the ten most dangerous things he’s done this week.

Kirk was a good man. He had morals, beliefs, stood for freedom and equality. He was rowdy at times and boy was he a hypocrite, but you knew he was reliable when it counted.

Gun violence and political violence cannot continue to devastate our communities. We need gun reform now.

Charlie Kirk called me a ‘lunatic’ and a ‘prostitute’ and demanded I be deported.

Nothing, *nothing*, justifies killing him, or robbing his kids of their dad.

We don’t know the identity or motive of the shooter but murder can *never* be the response to political disagreements.

We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.

People from across the political spectrum need to join together to condemn political violence, no matter who the target it is. It’s never acceptable.

My mom gave me her original copy of this album when I was in Jr High School. Mom was no prude, but she was a bit sheepish about giving this record to a preteen boy (and Boy Scout)… because of the conclusion of “Be Prepared”!

I doubt it ever will be rebuilt: The very idea of government doing science in the public interest has been so demonized that it’s hard to imagine recovering it. Whatever we can’t save now will be gone for good; the best-case scenario is that the rest of the world picks up some of the slack.
