Learning Chinese is a challenge. Unsurprisingly as this is normal for language learning, I’m doing better with understanding what I hear than I am anything else. The written aspect is definitely giving me the biggest headache.

I have deep feelings right now about many things.

Most of them are huge and overarching.

So I’m just going to complain about a little thing.

It’s far too cold here. Cold exacerbates my normal pain and turns it into something that devours my energy.

The thing I most say to my elementary students about the mess that is English is this:

English is a glorious dumpster fire and you just have to learn it.

By grade 3, they know the answer to the ‘why is this spelling happening’ and say it themselves.
