It IS great, and it IS different

I can understand why people bounce off of it—it is closer to the structure of an arcade game in some ways, and is demanding commensurate with that structure—but I do lament that more people can't enjoy it more

I'd argue that, of all Zelda games, Adventure of Link best qualifies for the label of "acquired taste." It is an ACQUIRED acquired taste

But when you have that taste.... that's a deeply satisfying game. This playthrough I learned how to fight all the enemies in the Great Palace, and that felt great

In my day there was no run button in 3d video games. Instead, you would control the speed of your character by tilting the analog stick to various degrees. Fully tilting the stick got you your maximum run speed
