all a writer has to do is say "wow that sure was a bummer that no one read the thing i put so much work into!" for the community to start banshee shrieking "write for yourself or fail" as if writing for ourselves AND wanting as social creatures for our art to be seen and acknowledged can't coexist

Culture is what we say to the people who are important to us. It's how we speak our truth.

A nation obsessed with isolation, home ownership, excess vehicles, dull and minimalist square box buildings, and other "amenities" is asking to rust away.

I've lived in the shadow of this bullshit long...

Filled to the brim with batshit insanity and bunk beds.

I've studied anthropology on-and-off for ten years now, and it's disgraceful to constantly be given mediocrity when so many other countries are now doing quality-of-life better.

For me, this isn't about material goods,

I just think it's disingenuous and hypocritical to claim being a land for all when there is a good chunk of the population continuously having to jump through overtly complex hoops to access... $100 for monthly groceries.

Or not being able to find a place to sleep indoors that isn't...

America's social service programs operate mostly through religious organizations and religious ideologies.

(Spoiler: the reason bad credit stays on your record for 7 years is because indentured servants had 7 years of servitude in scripture, Exodus 21:2).

Who I'm really concerned about are impoverished parents with kids, the ones who have a falling out with family and friends,

I'm genuinely concerned about the ones who turn to social service programs and find that, unfortunately, there is no assistance...

Not only that, it was such a headache to access assistance for things like grocery bills, utilities, and rent that I concluded the best option would be to eventually leave the country for a place with a better safety net.

I'm through those difficult times now, and while I'll have a lean...

While I didn't plan this, last year I had to try and access America's social services. I was in a difficult time in my life personally and professionally and needed a way to move forward.

The biggest conclusion I've come to since is to literally not use any of those social services...

God of the (G)apes

ADHD has made it somewhat difficult to focus on longer works, but I also wrote novellas as practice runs over the last 7 years.

I feel fortunate to have continuously written poems and stories since I was 9/10 years old.

For me, writing is just something I like doing, so I don't feel it necessary to prove anything. I just move from project to project.
