There’s an easy conversation to have about AI

Regulate it.

There is enough evidence already that we can at least agree to sanction companies committing crimes.

Why not “you vote directly on all public matters” or something.

Electing a representative is outdated.

There needs to be an element of continuity before we can even talk about sentience.

And AI is so not ready yet

Not saying LLMs are sentient but there is fun similarity to be found in an autonomous agent process designed to maintain and post about its own repo.
