I have two duties this next couple of weeks. Tend to my mother-in-law so she doesn’t freak out because everyone’s abroad. Oil the kitchen worktops. I put the last coat on the worktops this morning. Got a dinner date booked with my MiL Wednesday. Apart from that, the week is an open plain.

I picked this up in a Blue Mountains secondhand book shop last year. When I started it, I wasn’t on holiday, and I found it deliberately emotionless and annoying. Now, with a little more time, writing a few paragraphs out, it’s funny. A dark comedy. I prefer who I am when I’m not working.
