Paul Goesch, Portals.
"Goesch was drawn to diverse spiritual and esoteric beliefs and long struggled with schizophrenia, which eventually required institutional care". 🙏 Beautiful work.

I think I'll turn this memory into a poem or painting. ❤

Flash memory of being about 5 years old and going to my female cousin's birthday party. As a gift, I remember bringing along a child's umbrella with horse-and-cart design. I recall how the sepia and pink colours made me feel melancholic, and how my auntie enthused about the old-fashioned print.

I'm going to do something with this memory - art or poem.

Self-expression for the greater good or for personal healing is great. But can we have a little less ego-driven, perpetually churning, desperate ambition?

Nope. Only important thing is where you are and what you're doing there. You can't be in a zillion places at once.

Yes. Thanks Susie. Nurses in place now too. I've taken a step back. Husband and his brother helping too, but in different ways. X

My mother-in-law is dying, and I've been looking after her. Every time I see her frail, awkward body in bed, I think of a praying mantis. God bless her.

Ich habe geträumt, ich wäre im Emil-Nolde-Museum in Niebüll. I was admiring a minimalist pastel drawing of a woman - soft and full of psychic energy. I asked a curator about Nolde's Nazi sympathies and received a bluff-laden response.

Whether the feeling be fear...or a 'fit of gladness'...or merely the desire of giving play to an excess of impressions & of vital power - the necessity of communicating impressions, of playing, of chattering, or simply feeling the proximity of other kindred living beings pervades Nature

A book with a modern-day shipwreck on the cover. It’s Ivana Sajko’s EVERY TIME WE SAY GOODBYE, tr. Mima Simić, held up against a photo of a stormy sea with a lifeboat. A caption says: Our 2025 title comes out 10 October, and a circle in one corner says: More Sajko and Simić.

#SlowPublishing is the bomb! I edited this and am bringing it out with @vqbooks.bsky.social on 10 October and I feel really good about it.
