In addition to paypros problems, everyone also needs to be aware of the dangerous censorship bills that are on the table. Each of them threatens our freedom of speech, privacy, and business. Call your reps and tell them to OPPOSE each of these bills. R or D, get LOUD and spread the word! #SaveSpeech

this is a really good sign, but it's not over until it's over. Germany has flipped before, and we cannot risk it flipping again. Germans, continue to voice your opposition to your MEPs/MPs. likewise, everyone else in the EU should be similarly vocal!

Keep calling your reps! Hold their feet to the fire! We don't want what the UK has with their "Online Safety Bill" chaos, and the Discord data breach only proved that not only is our free speech at stake, but our privacy too. These tips could help if your rep is a Replican or Democrat. #SaveSpeech

Bullshit. Dont give them a smart device. Keep them away from the internet. Firewall devices and content.
Give more power back to the parents. Stop pushing censorous, moral panic laws that ultimately fail to "protect the kids."

The UK(and France) are pushing other countries to impliment AV bills similar to the UKOSA. Privacy will be invaded. Data will be leaked. Adult content shrinks.
Call your MPs in Canada. Tell them "Vote NO on S-209."

It's a cursed timeline when the third-worst thing in the bill, the thing media only can report on after they've gotten through the really stupid stuff, is that Michigan intends to build a Great Firewall to keep its citizens unsullied by knowledge of trans boobs in WI.
legiscan.com/MI/text/HB49...
(3) An internet service provider providing internet service in this state shall implement mandatory filtering technology to prevent residents of this state from accessing prohibited material. An internet service provider providing internet service in this state shall actively monitor and block known circumvention tools. (4) In addition to the criminal penalties provided under subsections (1) and (2), a commercial entity of internet service provider that knowingly facilitates access to prohibited material in violation of this section is subject to a civil fine of not more than $500,000.00 for each violation. (5) The promotion or sale of circumvention tools to access prohibited material is prohibited.
Michigan's HB4938 "antiporn" bill has been lambasted for a number of reasons. You can go to jail for even talking about sex online. Any reference to trans people needs to be erased from the internet.
But it also bans the sale of VPNs and requires ISPs to surveil block VPNs.
Buried in Michigan's antiporn bill is a provision to effectively outlaw "circumvention tools," such as VPNs.
Mark my words: legislators will increasingly leverage porn panic to restrict or ban VPNs, and to limit internet privacy far beyond adult sites.
1. If you're from Michigan, call your reps and tell them to OPPOSE this bill regardless of the chances of passing.

The Online Safety Act was a disaster in the UK, and now they're trying to expand a similar bill to Canada. My Canadian friends, contact your MPs and tell them to OPPOSE this bill, bc if you thought the Discord leak was bad, this will be so much worse. #SaveSpeech

I love how they see the unpopularity of these censorship bills and the chaos Digital IDs brings, and they still go "But think of the children π". It was never about the kids.
If you're a citizen in the EU, do not let this slide. Contact them, hold their feet to the fire and make noise. #SaveSpeech
Reminder to y'all that along with keeping chatcontrol down, we also need to start messaging the EU MEPs to stop pushing for AV laws and censorship.

Hi, my name is [NAME] and Iβm a constituent from [LOCATION] I'm messaging to demand [SENATOR] oppose S. 1748, the Kids Online Safety Act, also known as KOSA. This broad legislation does not protect anyone and instead will be used to block any speech that the Trump administrationβs partisan FTC disagrees with. It pushes the βduty of careβ onto websites and social media platforms to remove content that is βharmful to childrenβ. It would lead to overcompliance, mass censorship, and remove access to crucial information re: everything from mental health, LGBT topics, substance abuse, eating disorders and more. Additionally, while large, corporate platforms like X can shoulder the weight of βduty of careβ, smaller websites cannot, leading to greater and greater concentrations of power online into giant corporate platforms rather than small and medium sized businesses. KOSA will not make kids safer. It will make the internet more dangerous for anyone who relies on it to learn, connect, or speak freely. Lawmakers should reject it, and fast. Thank you for your time and consideration. IF SENATOR COSPONSORED KOSA: Additionally, I want to remark on [SENATOR]βs cosponsorship of this bill. I think it is shameful that [SENATOR] has backed a bill as transparently bad as KOSA. This will not keep kids safe, it is an excuse to censor the free and open internet. I will not be voting for nor donating to [SENATOR] in any future campaigns if they do not drop their co-sponsorship of this bill, and I will encourage everyone in my life to do the same. Do the right thing.
