Many years prior to Skype being gone, people switched to services like Zoom, Zencastr, Riverside, et al.

Cannot take to Samsung dealer (purchased for me by company so no proof of ownership). Charged to 100% so waiting for battery drain will take days.

Need access to my Samsung Galaxy phone. Pin forgotten months ago. No way to remotely unlock (not connected to Samsung account, phone missing from connected Google account). Powering off or restarting requires pin, so cannot enter Recovery mode.

Switching to Windows? I have Windows machines and use them all day. Switching to Android? I could, without losing anything in the process.

But the cross-platform integration apple offers is very compelling.

I need macOS (or Windows) for work, which means I can't pivot to *nix. I could switch to Android for my phone, but that doesn't really help.

My answer is more like: I'll just use computers/devices as little as possible.

There's a lot to love about you my friend, but your optimism is probably my favorite.

I grew up with Apple products, starting with the Apple IIe in 1983. I used a Macintosh Plus in 1986 to help publish my high school newspaper.

Apple's products have been part of my personal and life ever since.

I suspect I'm just old now, but I don't feel like their products are for me anymore.

iPadOS removed features we loved (slide over), while adding poorly implemented, non-discoverable features we didn't really need (multi-windows, a weird sometimes-hidden gesture-activated menubar, long-pressing icons to open a new window).

As if we needed yet another reason to never upgrade and switch platforms.

Nothing happened between us. My work schedule, parenting responsibilities, and life changes made my days unpredictable and not having a reliable recording time is an obstacle. Nothing to do with Merlin at all.

I just confirmed that my friend has the X-F10 and I had a chance to try it, it’s great. It’s a totally different experience than the Ricoh, I feel like they compliment each other.

I had a Fuji X100V (I think was the model? The popular one). It was too big to be a pocket camera for me, so I sold it (at profit!) and got the Ricoh and I love it.

Which 9a did you get?

This is interesting, I haven't really looked at those. There's nothing I do that's iOS specific anymore, so I could consider it. Thoughts?

I still run the Ricoh GR IIIx and love it. I use it mostly in monochrome mode (if you shoot RAW+JPEG you can turn that off in post)
