Should save me $2-3k/month.
Only because "Limpin' ain't easy" doesn't fit.

Looking into some new shoes. Hashtag amputee humor.

Keep it up, sir. You’re inspiring some of us to write and explore again.
Next Thursday, I'm excited to dive into Active Record's internals and show you what's going on in there.
Let's level you up, dispel some of the magic and have you more confident when you're using Active Record!

Definitely accurate, and, in my mind, automatically assumed/implied with any aspect of the government “saving money”.
02.06.2025 12:49 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Reducing access to help and resources that can enable people to regain mobility and control over their lives is absolutely a net negative for individuals and society.
Just another way to further diminish and marginalize yet another already disadvantaged group under the guise of saving money.
“On Friday, May 30th, the Presidential Budget eliminated funding for the National Limb Loss Resource Center for federal fiscal year 2026…”
Choosing to amputate was an incredibly difficult decision due to the lack of information and resources, but it was absolutely the right decision for me.
Earlier this year, ProPublica found that the sepsis rate in second-trimester pregnancy loss hospitalizations increased by more than 50% under Texas’ abortion ban.
Here’s how we did our analysis.

Stumbled across “azimuthal equidistant projection” maps, and they’re fascinating both from a geographic standpoint and from the way they show how looking at the same information with a different perspective/context can drastically impact how we perceive something.

Had a really fun conversation about my meandering and relatively broad career path in consulting, SaaS, writing, and all that with @jeremysmith.co and @bjessbrown.com. Hadn't ever really thought about how it all connected until they asked.
04.03.2025 16:41 — 👍 7 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0We had our final game of the season last night. Coaching has consumed every spare moment and emotion and not always been convenient or easy, but it’s enjoyable beyond belief.
Looking forward to a less hectic schedule for a while, but still going to miss it something fierce until next season.

How it’s going right after the last two weeks had felt like Spring was already here.
And it’s wet and heavy snow with more in its way. Crummy time to be sick and struggling and miss out on a pow day.
You know that project you've been meaning to get to for months? It's a thorn in your side, but more urgent stuff keeps coming up...
I can take that off your plate.
I'm still looking to book one more client for the spring. Send me a dm and we can talk about what that'd look like.
I also wondered about that, but since it was first on the list, I just assumed there was a very good reason.

Great post about AEA and ABA, by the way. Can only imagine the ride, but really appreciate sharing the story and what y'all have done for the community through the years. ❤️
Post a picture of yourself from a different era.
Early 20's. Still had both legs. Could still dunk. Could never spend enough time on a basketball court.
As someone who came from more of a design and front-end background, I put off digging into the Rails source code for far too long. Once I did, everything became easier to understand and reason about.
Having a guide like Kasper in this format would have been huge. bsky.app/profile/kasp...
If you want to take your Rails career to the next level, you need to start digging into Rails.
Don't sleep on becoming a better code reader, it's a force multiplier (ask me how I know lol).

Cold but fair. In my case it was driven more by social network reduction in general rather than any kind of moral judgement about Facebook in particular.
07.01.2025 16:29 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Instead of React as the new Flash, the pace of CSS improvements is making a case that JavaScript in general might be the new Flash.
It doesn't seem wild to imagine that ten years from now, sites could still provide most of the same functionality while barely needing JavaScript at all.
Leaving behind access to the array of amputee/disability groups was absolutely the most difficult thing about quitting it. Those communities helped so much when navigating amputation.

Text reads: "A team of researchers and designers led by UCL is looking for wheelchair users working in wet lab environments to user-test what is believed to be the first-ever prototype of a lab coat adapted for wheelchair users."
Do you know a UK-based wheelchair user who works in a lab and would be willing to user-test our prototype of what is believed to be the first-ever lab coat adapted for wheelchair users?

My software development philosophy:
1. Minimize external dependencies.
2. Actively upgrade dependencies.
"Dependency" is just another word for "save a little time now in order to permanently increase your workload by committing to monitor changes and responsibly update it in perpetuity."
