I’d argue the pacing issues were the fault of the balance/crunch I already mentioned. They dedicated the first 25% of the game to a glorified tutorial, and them not having time to make a postgame means the game abruptly stops post-Ultra Beasts, so you don’t have much game left after it gets good.

I’ve always felt similarly about Sun/Moon, where it’s story and cast was the best since Gen 5 IMO, but because the whole thing got rushed for the 20th anniversary and they balanced it mostly for newcomers, the story was all it had, and then USUM ruined that too.

What about Canadian raising? Mark Hamill and Mar Camel may sound similar in my dialect, but they have different stress patterns, like (secondary education) high school and (elevationally) high school. And the Mike Hunt example (and its counterpart) don’t even have the same vowel sound for the i/y.

Yeah, they’re a combination of sunken into the sea (from magic climate change, caused by three ancient empires channeling the elementals into magic during their endless war for control over the whole world) and destroyed by curse bombs (essentially magic nukes)
