Some 80km gusts this morning and monsoon-like rain! I didn’t catch the crazy wind gusts on video, but it woke me up out of a dead sleep and shook my house!

Tomorrow looks quite windy for the greater Sooke area, 70-80km/h gusts. Wonder if we will see our first wind warning of the season?

Good amount of rain happening on the south island right now. Power just flickered. How’s everyone else holding up?

Anyone feeling weird about how unseasonably warm it is in Greater Victoria right now? Fish haven’t even began to come up the river for spawning season yet and it’s still t-shirt and shorts weather each afternoon. Crazy to think this could be a new normal for October.

the recent felt earthquakes in southwest British Columbia are not so unusual. 1245 earthquakes (mostly offshore or smaller) have occurred in this region during the past year. The latest felt earthquakes don't tell us that a larger earthquake is more likely (or less likely) ⚒️🧪

Wind warning posted for our local area. Hi-Rez models show some 70 km gusts for this afternoon and we’re definitely seeing a pick up out here. Keep an eye out for fallen branches and debris, just in case the storm ends up stronger than anticipated.

Interesting. Models have calmed right down for our Monday storm. Good news I guess. I’m seeing Our Lady Peace tomorrow night in Victoria!

Looking like a powerful wind storm is on its way for Monday-Tuesday. Models showing prolonged periods of over 100Km/h gusts for Sooke. Will provide updates as we approach.

Definitely looks like between Saturday and Monday, Sooke will be getting a disruptive amount of snow! Anyone wanna guess which of the models is telling the truth? 🤣

Special weather statement issued for Sooke area regarding snow. Models are still sparring over exactly when this might occur so stay tuned!

This coming Saturday looks like there’s a chance of snow in the Sooke area, especially at higher elevations. As per usual, it is looking touch and go whether we receive rain or snow due to our low elevation and proximity to the water!
