Many with religious trauma struggle to be proud of themselves and celebrate their successes because pride was always negative and something to feel guilty about. Self esteem is seen as selfish.

Healing is learning to celebrate yourself and accept that you are worthy of compliments.

No matter how much healing work you have done… triggers can still catch you off guard.

Be gentle with yourself when it happens.

Healing is not linear and your trauma is not a source of shame.

The church needs more innovators, not gatekeepers.

Just because something is a tradition does not mean that it should be exempt from exploration, updating, and growth.
