Also as a bit of a bonus, I forgot I’d ordered the EG from P-Bandai and it came in today… snapped it together quick, it’ll be a fun “you be the Gundam she tells you not to worry about” comparison with the RG 2.0!

Waist is done. Lots of tiny little details on it and the engineering for how it can rotate and extend is nice, if a bit awkward at such a small scale. Onto the arms!

It’s been almost twenty years since a new mainline console game for the franchise

I didn’t notice any issues with the Vulcans so I think the “2.1”? I can double check on my shelf next time I go down.

Same! I built the original and it was such a cool and well made build that when I saw the Gundam Base version I felt it worth buying again.

And we also have Miku on the way so eventually it’ll be number 3 lol

Head and backpack built. I wound up deciding to use the stickers on the eyes and head cameras because they have some cool printed lens effects on them. Hopefully they stick properly over time.

We got some preview images of the new Real Grade #Patlabor model kit from Bandai!

It’s going to be in 1/48 scale, which makes sense, Labors are significantly smaller than Gundams, so 1/144 would be microscopic.

Looks great! I’ll definitely be getting one!

Chest pieces of Gundam base color RX-78-2 RG 2.0

Not a lot to show off, but I was in the mood for another simple/straight build, and decided to start on the Gundam Base colors RG RX-78-2 2.0.

The blue needs careful cleaning up with the glass file, but looks great! Also got water slides waiting in the wings!

Love that “MGSD” Asgard though.

Absolute GOAT of the MG line and overall mobile suit design in my opinion 🙂 Every time I see it, I wanna build it again! 😆

Here’s the build thread for WIP pics and my thoughts along the way.

Overall after burning out and some personal stress, this was a nice direct build to handle just out box with minimal extra work needed to make it pop. Definitely recommend picking this little guy up!

I mentioned this in the build thread too, but there’s some very nice opening thrusters in the calves, and extending fins out of the shoulders. It adds a bit of a nice change to the silhouette and are a bit of a “super mode” when it’s acting at full power.

Finally the main attraction, the VSBR cannons mounted on the back. You can see them in their stored pose in the other pics, it they can swing forward and (with a little annoying effort) be wielded under the arms and held.

They also have a nice opening gimmick to them, exposing inner frame details.

The mounting point wanted a sticker for the yellow and black… but I wasn’t having that, so a touch of paint since it has recessed lines.

It also came with a standard beam rifle, and rather than a normal shield features a fully effect part beam shield that mounts off the arm.

The rifle is fairly simple but has a lot of nice panel lines on it, and a bit of custom painting could really make it pop.

The F91 has a really cool overall design and profile, and the kit does a great job of showing that.

It also has one of the coolest and most unique bazooka launchers I’ve worked with yet! It’s a very cool design and, as a bonus, can be stored on the back of the waist armor!

A little guy that was a lot of fun to build - the MG 1/100 Gundam F91!

Only slightly larger than your average high grade, this guy still packed some cool tech under the hood, and while a few bits were janky, is mostly a rock solid kit.

Like before I probably woulda immediately dived into my next build tonight, but I think I’ll just open the box tomorrow instead and enjoy some downtime.

Pacing is important, and if you’re feeling a bit of burnout but don’t wanna stop, maybe just slow down a bit. It does wonders.

I’ll have a post of the finished F91 up later this morning, but I’ve found I’ve enjoyed not just a simpler build, but slowing down a bit too. Kinda funny but spending a bit -less- time building has made me enjoy the process more.

HGWFM 1/144 Gundam Schwarzette (Gundam gray pen panel liner, Krylon 1311 matte topcoat)

I decided to slowly go back through all my builds and take new pics of them.

This was my first ever Gunpla, the HGWFM Gundam Schwarzette, completed on November 18, 2024. I hadn’t even watched the anime yet, but this design really stood out to me.

I still love its look!

It’s just so odd. Like the knees are fully color separated, the back of the calves wants just a black sticker in the middle, and then the shield point is full sticker. Like almost every combo of parts to sticker is there in one kit lol

Don’t have time for a full photo shoot tonight but the build’s all done! This guy was a really fun build with some clever engineering, though a few spots I think coulda been improved (whether or not you need stickers is oddly inconsistent).

Still, what a fun, refreshing kit!

The legs also have some really nice layering to them - the front of the shins not only have some of the grey inner frame popping out, but there’s venting for a nice plated gold piece like on the chest.

And I also took a closer look at the calf thrusters, I used a quick marker for the blue effects.

The shoulders and calves have some cool opening gimmicks to them - extended stabilizer fins (I guess?) out of the shoulder armor, and some extra jet thrusters out of the calves.

The calves in particular have a really nice opening mechanism where folding the top one opens all three sections.

Finished up the body tonight. There’s a lot of cool stuff going on here - to the point I’m legitimately thinking of picking up another one of these sometime and doing a full paint job on it.

Surprisingly enjoying slow rolling my current build with the F91. Spending a little less time (oddly enough) each night building almost makes it a more relaxing process? I dunno. Either way, had a lot going on, so going simple and slow on this has been what I need. #gunpla
