Loss of integrity and credibility abroad would most likely be worth it for the political prisoners to be freed, the killing and repression to stop & Venezuela to finally become a democracy.

I hate that she was pressured to make this choice. I don't think it'll work, but the risk-reward checks out.

She's the leader of the opposition in Venezuela. When she was removed from the ballot by Maduro's supporters in the National Electoral Council, she led her protégé Edmundo Gonzalez to victory.

I hate Trump too & hate that she gave him the medal, but that doesn't mean she's not the opposition leader

I think they made the right decision for the time. She did lead the opposition to victory in last elections, raising hopes of democracy in Venezuela in the face of thousands being imprisoned.

The Nobel Peace Prize people just underestimated the lengths she would take to win Trump to her cause.

I had a dream last night that Nigel Farage took over the Tories in the next election and was up against a Neo-Nazi party inspired by Nigel Farage.

I'm glad she's not able to transfer it because it probably wouldn't help her cause anyway.

But I get why she would want to try it. Even a Nobel Peace prize is small compared to winning support for democracy in Venezuela.

My take on the Venezuelan intervention is different from a lot of people on the left.

But having a loved one in Venezuela, I just wish they could actually celebrate the end of a dictator's rule instead of deals for oil being made above their heads with the same regime intact.

Why are they dismissing the opposition when the opposition has the people's support and won the last election? Why talk about trying to make a deal with the vice president?

If you're going to involve yourself in the lives of the Venezuelan people, don't just get their hopes up.

My biggest criticism of the Venezuelan intervention is that it's half-assed.

If you're going to do regime change, actually do regime change.

Some people on the left are getting it twisted.

Just because Trump is against Maduro doesn't make Maduro a good guy.

The Venezuelan people are pinned between two authoritarians.

She's still in Venezuela, no green card.

They did the travel ban, so she couldn't travel here. Then, they halted all immigration cases entirely so there's no legal way for her to get here.

It's frustrating that the only way for us to live together is a country neither of us has ever been to.

Because the administration stopped processing immigration cases for 19 countries including Venezuela, I'll probably have to move to another country if I want to live with my fiance because she's Venezuelan.

Even when Trump tries to act like he wants the House to vote yes, it's still a vote to compel him to do what he isn't doing.

If he wants to act like he wants to be compelled, he should just do the thing without the vote.

It's weird to say that the House should vote to release the Epstein files when you could just release the Epstein files.

This is a vote to compel you to release the files. If you suddenly want to be compelled, just release the files.

One of the major steps I took leave reactionism was realizing that the more opinions I had, the more I could be wrong.

And that was something that resonated with me even back when I was more self-righteous.
