I wish I had the strength to DIY game journo again because I not only miss doing it, I miss having websites that actually built up communities. I've spent a bit of this morning reading old TIGSource and tearing up at what used to be.

Also, it helps that this thing is getting refined with every beta ofc. I think they’ve struck a great balance of form and function as it is in beta 4 rn though.

This is roughly my approximation of Liquid Glass as a whole. I have yet to try it on iPad but my Mac experience was great and I now find myself staring at just how pretty my iPhone is now. It’s gorgeous.

iOS 26 is one of those rare, odd cases where I think something is so nice to use despite setting off all my red flags in screenshots. I find myself caring about so much in still that just… doesn’t matter during actual use. Half of the benefits here can be found in its many excellent animations, too.

Making this into a pure blanket statement will sound unbearably pretentious, but I do believe the difference here is if you view videogames as art or not. Respecting the intentionality of work within limitation in design is a part of this.

Agreed on both counts. I'm preparing myself for frustration with Discord, but hopefully little else.

I'm sure somebody will figure it out eventually but this takes me back to highschool, when I wanted websites to be able to call a basic System Material that would sync up with your Windows accent color. Still like that idea a lot.

The more I use macOS Tahoe the more I really love it. The downside's a blatant one that will be handled in due time: outside of core system apps, nothing really fits in. While it's obvious that say, Final Cut is gonna get touched up, you then have every webapp in the world left out in the cold.

Battery life also way better than I'd anticipate btw, esp. for a beta. Though I will say- this is the hottest my MBP (M1 Pro) has ever run during regular usage. Typically only get this when rendering in Blender. Maybe post-update processes, maybe from rendering all the glass, maybe it's Maybelline.

Well, mild correction. It IS a toggle, but it didn't hit me until I realized I couldn't find autoplay settings anymore and went hunting lol.

macOS Tahoe beta thoughts, continued: Apple Music's Automix DJ feature is a lot of fun, but needs to be a toggle akin to autoplay instead of a buried setting. Making this on by default is criminal.
However, it just mixed Simple and Clean into Blondie's Heart of Glass and that DID make me laugh a lot

Not to say all is lost in the world of wealthy individuals sparing us paupers, of course. Undertale was funded (in part) by Toby having a "pay ludicrous amounts of money to put your character in the game" tier on Kickstarter lol.
