Just finishing audiobook of Man on Ice by Humphrey Hawksley. Made January at the gym fly by! It's a thriller about a Russian/US clash in the Bering Straits. Clever political setup and great action scenes. Rake Ozenna, an Eskimo US soldier is an intriguing character. @humphreyhawksley.bsky.social

Here is the cover for Operation Berlin out in April 2026!
It's the first of my Foreign Correspondent series, so it's important because it will set the style and tone of my covers for the next several years.
I really like it!

Astonishing & beautiful erupted material at Eldborg crater. With thanks to @ellionthego.bsky.social for the pic inspo, & to fab author of the #FireAndIce series @michaelridpath.bsky.social for the inspiration to visit it! 🌋 #Stunday #WeekFforFire #AlphabetChallenge #MobilePhotography 📷

Michael Ridpath
Welcome to the official website of Michael Ridpath, author of crime novels and thrillers.
I have just redesigned my website, www.michaelridpath.com
Websites are supposed to be slick and sleek these days, without too much text. But it seemed a shame to ditch so much content, so I've created a new page, Backstories, which has articles about my novels that I hope keen readers will enjoy.

Hið raunverulega fyrsta lamb fæddist í Skagafirði - RÚV.is
Svo virðist sem fyrsta lamb ársins hafi fæðst 23. janúar á bænum Kleif í Skagafirði. Um viku fyrr en það sem fæddist á Rangárvöllum og fjallað var um í frétt fyrr í dag.
The Icelandic public broadcasting agency just issued a correction of a previous news item: The first lamb of the year was born in Skagafjörður on January 23rd, and NOT yesterday in Rangárvellir as previosly stated.
The accompanying photo is of the real first lamb born and its mother.

Just finished Gabriel's Moon by William Boyd. Brilliant spy story! Clever, absorbing plot and a fascinating examination of the motivation and character of an accidental spy. Reminds me of Graham Greene, but better.
