Only then are their families consoled, empty affirmations of their loved ones loss being some sacrifice to insure their continued comfort. Only when these people die are they provided any semblance of recognition.

Dragged away from their families, with no assurance they'll ever return. And only then, when they are killed, are they heralded as a hero who valiantly gave their lives in defense of freedom.

They have yet to prove themselves worthy of recognition. They are trained to fight wars for a ruling class who would throw their lives away on little more than a few acres of land they can devastate to earn profit.

America is consumed by a "Martyr Culture". Your life is worth nothing if you didn't die for something. My go to example is military service. From the second some poor sap, fresh out of high school, is coerced into joining the military, they are repeatedly reminded they are "worthless" and "weak".

However, the right chooses the gallows. Though often seen as a weapon of criminal execution, popularized most often in many slave lynchings, military executions, criminal cases during the early industrial periods, and religious executions.

For the left the guillotine symbolizes a revolution. Popularized by the French Revolution, the weapon is eternally linked to violent revolutions against a ruling class by their oppressed class. It symbolizes punishment for those who have put the people down for so long.

It can't just be me who recognizes the difference between the weapons each side of the political spectrum uses as threats to their opponents. For the leftists, the weapon of choice is commonly a guillotine. The right: the gallows.
