Did it take many books before you got a writing style, or voice, you were happy with? Or are you so awesome it was just an instant hit?

I would already be thrilled with making the longlist.

Headaches are still to come but for my second manuscript I have plenty changes to make.
First, remove a character I nicknamed grandpa exposition.
Second, pull in a character to much earlier in the story.
Third, rewrite the whole first chapter.
And that leaves point four to a thousand something.

Don't forget though You're not only writing, you're also learning the craft.
Congrats on finishing the first draft. And don't worry, you know what to change which means you know how to improve the story.

Whatever I show the agent should be as best as I can make it, to show the quality I can achieve with my own resources and how hard I am willing to work.
