Morning all. My little friend is back in the bird box. I’m not sure whether it’s thinking about nesting or just enjoys sheltering from the rain! Still, it’s a nice start to the week. Happy Monday everyone 😊

He'd be in his element. Have you tried sprinkling a layer of blood, fish & bone on the soil surface? They don't like the smell. Maybe also pop a lavender plant in there too... they hate the fragrance, oh & marigolds as well.

Thankfully we were able to get out in the garden today. I was focused on rose pruning whilst Ted worked on restoring his muddy status. Super to be outside & see all the new shoots springing into growth. 🌱

Out in the garden all day so I can confirm normal muddiness has been restored 🐾

Can a dog look any more miserable 😭 a bath, ears cleaned & teeth brushed. But to be fair he was completely covered in mud after today’s walk in the rain.

Morning all. Very wet & cold day today so unlikely that I’ll get out into the garden. Although the grey weather is dreary, the clematis which has crept away from the arbor into the cherry tree brings a cheery sign of promise. Have a super day everyone 😊 🌱

I'll probably prune late in the month. There's still plenty of alternative shelters for them though.

I love this little row of daffodils. By the end of the month there will be a splash of yellow & cream to brighten the entrance to the greenhouse. 🌱

These gorgeous Annabelle hydrangeas have provided gorgeous structure & safe havens for ladybirds 🐞 over winter. I will prune them back at the end of the month. 🌱

It’s lovely to see how the snowdrops are multiplying each year. I dream of a carpet of them in the orchard 🤞🏻🌱

It may be freezing cold outside but the garden is full of promise 🌱

I shred all my garden waste, but, as the larger branches, when shredded, are still very coarse for composting, I use it on the pathways. Works in the same way as shop-bought bark does.

I have a shredder machine, best investment!

It's called clematis cirrhosa balearica. Masses of blooms which last for months.

I decided to use my shredded waste (too big for composting) on the pathways a few years ago. It provides sanctuary for insects & is also much kinder on my dog's paws. The bonus is seeing the fungi appear, almost like magic.
