I always find it super interesting to see what ends up as most played. I went through a couple periods playing at least one new game every day, but the challenge is when I find one I really like, it's hard to move on!

Since launch I have been all over and through Ludocene exploring games (and familygamingdatabase.com) In the beginning I wasnt too surprised to discover a few games I'd never heard of & wanted to play, even starting from my card, but the fact that I just found 4 more *today* really blows my mind!

I played in VR, which was rad, but it's also available non-vr for Switch & PC. It's one of those games (and stories) that has stuck with me long past finishing the game. The visuals of the terrain rise up out of the table is wild and honestly the bird is maybe one of my top 10 fav GMs of all times 😂

Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown seems perfect for this! Unique tabletop adventure with clockwork bird GM! She weaves a fun story full of surprises with humor & charm. Good ol' strategy too as you decide how to approach a scene (fighting isn't always the best option!)

Do you add boardgames to these lists? Root and Everdell seem like great fits and are both in the DB as board games. As a bonus they both have great digital versions as well

Everdell even has a big tree that stands in the middle of the table! :)

Dice Player One is a standout among Balatro-Yahtzee games. You build a set of 20 unique dice with special powers and bonuses, but each round you only draw 5 of them at random to use. A deckbuilding delight 😍

Bonus points for cool thematic starter sets to unlock and a fun graphic style.

My favs are Pawnbarian, Shotgun King, and King of the Bridge. Potentially belongs on this list is a chess-themed Roguelike Tower Defense game called Defend the Rook. It uses chess-themed pieces to not play chess :)

When I first got into board games 20+ yrs ago, I discovered Knightmare Chess. Basically you build a deck of cards with special rules to play chess. Ever since I've enjoyed exploring wacky chess variants. I really like video game versions bc you can try again & again and the rules are handled for you

I've had a Switch 2 for less than 48 hours. Calibration doesn't have any effect.

10/10 outperforms OG Switch for joystick drift, a high bar!

This is one of my favorite games in recent years. The story really stuck with me, well worth the play.

...When you quit a game without playing it because you can't adjust a setting and aren't willing to work that hard....

LOOTPLOT on Steam Re-arrange items, discover synergies, bend the rules, and break the game! LOOTPLOT is a points-based, inventory builder Roguelite centered around items, which all have a unique twist.

Loot Plot is a current obsession!

It's an interesting twist on "a whole game build around organizing your inventory", hits somewhere between Ballionaire and one of those factory/automation games, with wild combos and lots of discovery

And fwiw, you know you're working in accesibility when you comment that something on social media might not be inclusive and the author comes back the next day asking for ideas to change wording. 😉👍

A few other ideas based on shared experience trends:

One easy shift might be changing “you aren’t... until” to “you know you are... when.”

It’s subtle, but I think the first might read like a list of standards for legitimacy, while the second feels more like a checklist of relatable experiences

I'm working on a very short game about accessibility settings, to demonstrate how they can massively improve a game's playability.

Players have to overcome limited control options by exploring the game's accessibility menu!

Yeah, I get the framing device. However, in a field people come to through varied paths and lived experiences (and where folks often already have their credibility tested, especially in gaming spaces), it’s worth considering who this invites to share… and who it doesn’t 🤷‍♀️

Idk, the undertone of “you aren't good enough to do this job if you haven’t met these standards…” feels like a weird way to flex credentials in a field built on inclusion.

There’s gotta be a way to invite shared stories that doesn’t involve drawing lines around whose experiences are valid?
