my current therapist, a fantastic person who Gets It on many many levels, was so horrified by this story I believe she at least considered making a report to some kind of credentialing body. all this to say — don’t be afraid to ask hard questions in consults, push back, or find a new therapist!

And it’s not a new issue. I’m reading quite a few memoirs and interviews with people who survived social movement collapses. All the way back people are saying, “oh this is the most intimately tragic thing to ever happen to me and no one could understand that.”

I know a lot of people from leftish protest spaces and just politically engaged people who cannot find competent therapy to deal with these experiences.

It’s really hard to find a therapist who can counsel people with actual real threat scenarios, like this one.

For example, I don’t think I have “haters”. I have actual coordinated attacks on my safety and wellbeing, sir or ma’am.
