Unfortunately this is happening in floodplains all over the US. Wealthy developers and owners can ignore/‘change’ risks and as a result properties flood and people can die. And FEMA maps do not account for supercharged storms from a warming climate that will make these systems worse

We can soon expect the classic Trump move, a major diversion to try and shift attention. Maybe a University crackdown? Perhaps a large public ICE raid in a major city? My guess is starting a highly visible fight with a Democratic governor over a previously ordinary federal function

Hubert Selby Jr. His topical areas on addiction, violence, and urban decay are brutal. And he uses loose prose with little punctuation so it’s hard to follow who’s speaking or when topics end. But he’s a cultural icon he wrote about the horror of drug addiction when few would touch the subject.

I appreciate that the Oneida word for this month is Ohyotsheli or the String Bean moon. Our gardens string beans are in full harvest having made Greek stewed green beans and Asian style stir fry green beans with, of course, chunks of squash thrown in for both.
