Except they already used void year tricks to resign Rousseau, Bernard, Shakir, and Benford. Not to mention Allen. And they are already over the cap for 2026. There’s no more space for gimmicks

Thank you @paulhuttnerweather.bsky.social for speaking plainly to your audience that more frequent and severe extreme weather changes today are directly linked to #climatechange.

Giant zucchini set next to my foot for size reference

When one is away for over a week, I guess this is what happens to a zucchini. I see zucchini bread in our future.

I can’t recall where, but there was a pilot with car dealers to build solar canopies on their lots. For dealers, it wasn’t the energy, but hail protection that was so crucial. Many dealers were willing to fully allow using their property in exchange for the secondary protection it provided

Important to note that β€œ70% were children, half of whom were 7 or younger.” But it is not 7 year olds going to markets and making active decisions to purchase unpasteurized food. Adults are the ones putting their kids at risk

The effect of this review centralization is to make it easier for President Russ Vought to control NIH grant review.

For now we should resist consolidation in all its forms. Autocrats always try to consolidate as part of consolidating their power

KC ate up the defense by getting the ball out fast, leaving no opportunity for the DE to do their job. Boosting the mid d-line is right move. Quick pressure up the middle to disrupt the pass opens chances for everyone else. Excited to see what Sanders can turn into.

Love how the tax cuts are always framed two ways. For the American public, Trump β€œgave us a massive tax cut,” implying something new. Yet for budget accounting nothing new here, just β€œextending what was there,” so it β€˜cost’ us nothing. Time to have our cake and eat it too!

For all the time we waste on YouTube, it is an absolute game changer when it comes to home repairs. Any obscure task, changing a faucet cartridge, a glass door insert, brake bulbs, engine filters, a sliding door screen, hooking up a gas stove, are easy cause someone altruistically posted a video

Found this cool #fungi growing up from our flower garden. I think it’s Dead Man’s Fingers (Xylaria). There was an old tree stump here and wood mulch, so I’m not concerned about it harming any living tree. I haven’t seen it before, so some learning for myself on a Sunday

Yet asking academics to fill roles like IRIS assessments (which no private company would touch) is a near impossible sell. These studies are critical for understanding risks, yet tedious to perform and low profile. They are exactly the work federal labs should be doing

At a self pick blueberry farm in WI and listening to the patrons is like a giant #Progressive ad. Everyone giving out lots of unsolicited advice on the best/smartest/most efficient way to pick. Definitely heard the term β€œpower move” and discussion about lack of birds

We went to a children’s theater performance of Madagascar yesterday and one of the transition songs was Vacation by the GoGo’s. I’ll admit it is officially impossible for me to hear without immediately thinking of the #AlwaysSunny Jersey Shore montage

FEMA removed dozens of Camp Mystic buildings from 100-year flood map before expansion, records show Federal regulators repeatedly granted appeals to remove Camp Mystic’s buildings from their 100-year flood map, as the camp operated and expanded in a dangerous flood plain in the years before rushing ...

Unfortunately this is happening in floodplains all over the US. Wealthy developers and owners can ignore/β€˜change’ risks and as a result properties flood and people can die. And FEMA maps do not account for supercharged storms from a warming climate that will make these systems worse

The national news probably won’t cover it, because it’s not in New York or LA, but you can’t really easily breathe outside right now in the Upper Midwest.

We can soon expect the classic Trump move, a major diversion to try and shift attention. Maybe a University crackdown? Perhaps a large public ICE raid in a major city? My guess is starting a highly visible fight with a Democratic governor over a previously ordinary federal function

Hubert Selby Jr. His topical areas on addiction, violence, and urban decay are brutal. And he uses loose prose with little punctuation so it’s hard to follow who’s speaking or when topics end. But he’s a cultural icon he wrote about the horror of drug addiction when few would touch the subject.

I appreciate that the Oneida word for this month is Ohyotsheli or the String Bean moon. Our gardens string beans are in full harvest having made Greek stewed green beans and Asian style stir fry green beans with, of course, chunks of squash thrown in for both.
