This bill is economic self-immolation.

3.⁠ ⁠It imposes A NEW tax on wind & solar projects completed after 12/31/27 that can't prove they don't contain a drop of Chinese content.

4.⁠ ⁠It raises taxes on US wind manufacturers after 12/31/27 (& on solar mfg that cant prove they dont have a drop of Chinese content, IP or ownership).

The kicker: the bill raises taxes on the electricity technologies of the future while ALSO creating a new subsidy for coal used for steel making, coal that we primarily export to China so they can dump cheap dirty steel on the global market! THAT is the GOP's plan for energy dominance??

The bill ALSO raises taxes on batteries, geothermal and nuclear projects that can't meet significant, burdensome requirements to prove not a drop of Chinese content as well.

And they all lose accelerated depreciation too it seems.

At a moment of rapid demand growth and a growing electricity affordability crisis, the Republican's One Big Horrible Bill will RAISE TAXES on wind & solar—the only new sources of electricity we are able to rapidly add to the US grid—in four different ways.

The Senate version of GOP's budget bill dropped in the middle of the night. Astonishingly, it got EVEN WORSE. It raises energy costs, kills $100s of billions of investment in manufacturing, makes grids less reliable, increases pollution & constrains our ability to compete w/China on AI. Loser stuff.
