Reeves's big problem is that I don't think she is all that popular on the Labour benches so she is likely to get fewer defenders than Rayner got. That said those plotting against Starmer may well want her to deliver an unpopular budget that they can use to hang him with.

It wasn't down to the Labour Party that the scheme wasn't tried, more the ethics of our courts.

The best argument against ID Cards is that the Government hasn't made a case for why we need them and how they will opporate to the benefit of citizens.
If the Government doesn't make that case why should the citizen agree to give up their current freedom to not be expected to have an ID card.
