Lady Naam (Slinaro's OC) is lounged on the side of a table. She has a relaxed expression, holding some kind of golden trinket. Lady Naam herself is a red headed demon with white horns, teal feathers adorning her chest, back, and legs, with peacock feathers around her neck and with bird talon feet. She has several pieces of golden jewelry adorning her wrists, ankles, horns and neck. She's wearing a red feathered cloak that's slung around her side and dangling down off the table. The entire piece is very warm in tone.

But a fellow player I bounced this off of said this felt like this nerfed ranged to the ground, and if it were smth like 50ft. as a base the mechanic wouldn't ever come up in the first place.

And I was thinking of incorporating Pathfinder's action economy so you could shoot a weapon and a spell in the same turn so you don't feel like you spent your movement doing 'nothing'.

My idea was giving the range of ranged weapons/spells a much shorter range than you'd otherwise expect (a bow getting smth like a 30ft. range as opposed to its 150 you see in 5e. But if using less than half your movement, the range doubles. And if you're still, it quadruples.

Currently workshopping mechanics on the campaign I DM (TL;DR: roaring 20s eldritch-inspired high magic system) and I've been working on balancing ranged vs melee combat.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make melee an appealing option in a system like this? I had an idea but will put in comment.

Exactly! And like. Idk man hitting 24/28 dmg against Team Slacker (3 and 2 def) is still cracking through a lot of defenses. Single target wise I'm sure Vi is better but personally I'd rather take a nerf to single target to ensure I'm safe from the ads.

I was a Leif main too (first playthrough was on hard mode). I understand the theory for Vi but the falloff on her multihit moves made me sad. Ice rain went brr and AOE and there were so many ice weak enemies, and I had 5 Crisbee Doughnuts on my person at all times lmao

If you've heard of America Ninja Warrior, it's like that. A bunch of people (try to) complete an obstacle course. Sasuke in particular's only hosted 1 time a year, and its been going on 42? 43? years! So it's got a lot of history and it pulls in athletes from across the world!
