The struggle is so real. I love reading, but summer with littles is so overstimulating, and then there's no focus left for a good book.

My family & friends did "hot take" PowerPoint presentations last New Year's Eve. Mine was "The Gregorian calendar is stupid and I can fix it" and I made a whole 13 month, 28 day calendar with Taylor Swift month names. August got to stay since its cannon 😆

Thank goodness all the Midwest corn sweat (its a legit thing) was replaced by salt air this morning.

And I needed to "get over it" when she seated my fiance and I separately at our literal rehearsal dinner.

She later made 3 separate bridesmaids cry.

We embrace our "traitor to the family" (their words whenever we choose what's best for us) status now, but it sucked when I was pure people pleaser.

I "didn't share enough during conversations" (after I realized that they would criticize or sneer at anything I said or spin it as negative somehow).

I was selfish to choose a BBQ menu when they have a 30 yr old son who only likes nuggies & corndogs and might not like anything.

She would give my partner a grade card about me on every subsequent visit: I dared to pass along things my partner wanted for an upcoming birthday, so I was "acting like I knew him better" (I did, they totally ignored him his whole life).

My narcissistic mother-in-law's 1st attempt to stop the wedding was to claim that our chosen November date "might conflict with [her co-dependent daughter's] Nutcracker schedule" like we should move it to an entirely different season just for her daughter. And I'm not done with her wedding antics 🧵

It's the little milestones that hit the hardest! My son's favorite stuffie just changed from his infant teddy bear to a dinosaur build-a-bear, and my daughter just put her shoes on (the wrong feet) by herself for the first time. And now they can play their own games together without us 🥹
