Working to support my gardening habit π³πΏ
Iβve found a guy on YouTube called the backyard chef. Many simple, inexpensive but tasty recipes.
22.02.2026 07:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What to do when stuck inside with a knee injury? Make a two tin chickpea curry + garlic naan in 20 mins.
22.02.2026 04:25 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What am I doing with the extra hour a day I no longer use by commuting? Making sweet n sour pork with rice. Miss my garden though.
22.02.2026 01:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ohhh, a hot cross bun alternative?
16.02.2026 07:19 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I went for a Prius wagon, waiting for a better, cheaper electric option. Very happy with it. I can get from Wellington to Deep South Canterbury for $60.
15.02.2026 06:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I find this Wellington summer to be totally unacceptable. Last week I was living in the South Island and enjoying 27 degree days.

15.02.2026 03:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hamilton has needed a more aspirational but authentic slogan for a long time. How about, βHamilton - Safe as.β
14.02.2026 22:16 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This time theyβll do what I say!
13.02.2026 21:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks, itβs been about 14 years since Iβve lived in the city (13 years in KΔpiti followed by a bit over a year in Banks Peninsular. It feels a bit crowded but I can commute to work by bike again.
13.02.2026 21:13 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That was my first idea but I found out the ships travel north- south, so it might have been a year-long circuit to get to Wellington. Now if I wanted to see Vladivostok that could be an option.
13.02.2026 21:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0The wharf at night time. Lights and containers.
Welly - they let me back in.
13.02.2026 09:32 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 3 π 0Visited my neglected garden today. Too much work, not enough courgette harvesting.
11.02.2026 07:52 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0New pizza machine - 3 minutes for a slice.
Coming soon to Wellington Railway Station. Pizza for breakfast.
10.02.2026 01:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Had some spare time today.
Made poor manβs lentil curry and garlic naan from scratch. Cheap as chip, tastes great and will give me a few work lunches.
I think dog would enjoy that!
07.02.2026 22:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was a bit beyond that I think. It takes a lot for me to give up on an item of clothing!
07.02.2026 22:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Once upon a time an evangelist healer told me I had one leg longer than the other and that if I believed, he would put the healing power of his hands upon me to sort it out.
Now if his angle had been that having a long leg could cause wear in a beloved sock, I might have given him more time.
Today Iβm saying goodbye to a much used and loved pair of socks. Technically just one of the pair is at its absolute end - the other could go on.
Am I wrong to send the second sock to landfill? Could it have a life of its own beyond its mate? Should I start wearing odd socks as their twins expire?
A very quiet food court.
Visited Johnsonville Mall to get some dinner ingredients from the One Stop Asian Supermarket. I didnβt realise that shop is outside on the main street. It was nice to be in a place with no queues, but also some of the shops were open but didnβt seem to have shop keepers. Flashbacks to early 90s.
07.02.2026 05:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When I was a youngster in Wellington, Iβd see old men (maybe 36 or more) in Courtenay Place and towards Oriental Bay essentially living in bus shelters (along with their bottles).
The authorities reacted against that by making bus shelters that were inhospitable to everyone.
Sorry to say the potato fritter rated average. Good batter, slightly thick potato. I ordered two fritters (with a half scoop to go with dinner) and got two fritters.
Silverstream is still top of the table from the last four months.
Wadestown bus stop the size of a colonial tiny home.
Proper bus stop. Noo, they donβt makem like that any more.
05.02.2026 03:34 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Outside Wadestown Seafoods, corner Sefton and Lennel.
Trying out a new potato fritter. Itβs legal if youβve ridden up the hill to get there eh?
05.02.2026 03:22 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes, they should make quantities of all the potato dishes - gratin, wedges, fries, cubes, mash etc. then buy a new freezer to store it all.
01.02.2026 03:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just wondering how many potato fritters Iβd make for the year if I lived in Berlin. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/j...
31.01.2026 23:31 β π 5 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0MΔori organisations really are the best at this. My partner drains our bank account to donate in some way whenever weβre visiting her tΕ«rangawaewae and I canβt find a reason to complain.
21.01.2026 07:33 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I had the same on Friday, driving from Christchurch to Picton in ferry traffic. The people with caravans and clapped out vans even used the slow lanes uphill to let others pass. Never seen the like before.
18.01.2026 08:31 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If I tried any of that with our princes, theyβd simply eat whatever was on offer. They have excellent nostril powers and are on high alert for any food substance.
