18.02.2026 07:05 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1at one point i thought well the cops aren't going to do anything, is it up to organised citizens now to enforce the law and deal to these fuckwits. it was so infuriating to watch it all unfold and take hold, with apparently zero consequences.

i quite like that if you do get lost you get to ask a random stranger for directions, ie: chat to someone you'd normally not engage with. i couldn't find a street here in Nelson once- assumed it was somewhere it wasn't. stopped a bloke my age, (also without a smartph) and we tracked it down together
17.02.2026 06:01 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0yep. in unfamiliar cities i read the map before heading out, write the street names and turnoffs on a bit of paper. it's pretty basic.
17.02.2026 05:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0yeah it also gets extra complicated here- the legal road is a paper road which shows up on a map but doesn't appear on the ground as it were. what exists on the ground is actually a right of way, which doesn't appear on most maps.

17.02.2026 05:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0i dunno. this no exit valley seems to be a bermuda triangle for gps addicts. prob half a dozen incidents a year. i don't get it. what's difficult about ' past the Glen turnoff, past the hall, opposite the paddock with the belted galloways hang a right at the top of the hill'

Great book btw

it's a completely fake contrived rivalry. there's a hype built up around the hate that supposedly exists between the two sides, much trash talk and sledging etc but then the players return to playing alongside one another at club level and internationals, and they all become good friends again.

paul at vtnz nelson reckons my vintage ford trader truck is the most mint example in the country and it flies thru it's cof every time.
he did mention last time maybe spray some fisholene on the surface rust - reckons it smells nice too- like fish n chips.
