EMA Changes Azithromycin Use to Combat Antibiotic Resistance The antibiotic can no longer be used in moderate acne vulgaris, eradication of Helicobacter pylori, and prevention of exacerbations of asthma.

The EMA has limited azithromycin’s approved uses in the EU to reduce #AMR, removing some indications like acne and H. pylori. A new warning advises clinicians to consider local resistance before prescribing.
