Oof what a tough one. I think we all know that feeling, it lingers like a bad taste even if it's from when we're kids.

Well written because I felt the overthinking awkward anxiety of it in my soul.

Lost Signals I don't know why I even bothered. Such a waste of time, space and emotions. And regret. Our journey is a 5 year round trip to the Cartwheel galaxy, at least, probably more. I think they said 5 years to make it look good. Five is an even uneven number. It doesn't sound too long, nor does it sound like a throwaway mission.

This one had a real bitter sweet melancholy to it that I loved, stand out lines for me:

"Like a butterfly, pinned to a cutting board. Strange how humans always have to analyse everything into bits."

"If I was in charge, we would never stop, just keep on moving. Further away, deeper into space."

Distance It's quiet. Empty. Like the life aboard was all shifted down to the planet. Walking the corridors of the NEA Constellation as the survey teams are planet side, is like being back to when she was newly constructed. There's a chance you might run into someone checking readings, but most likely you'll wander for an hour and not see a living soul.
