Finally approaching the end of January, which feels like it's been going on FOREVER. The plus side of which is that I've got a lot of reading done! Eleven books is a lot, even for me, though it was helped by being struck down with an awful cold and confined to bed for fourโฆ
Books of January 2026. I've read 11 books this month, so here are some short and snappy thoughts on each.

Digital ARCs are so much easier. I used to get sent a lot of physical ARCs, often unsolicited and theyโd end up in a pile. Iโd try and read/review as many as possible, but thereโs only so many hours in the day. Iโd much rather get an email asking if I wanted to look at a copy first

30.01.2026 09:58 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Seconded. How very dare they. Outrage etc.
30.01.2026 09:56 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0The cover of MORTEDANT's PERIL, two towers with flames and crows in between. It does involve flames, towers and crows. But not hobbits so don't be misled by references to two towers.
ARCs of MORTEDANT's PERIL are moving out in the world and it's always a weird feeling; 'what are readers thinking?' Sadly, it's frowned on in publishing to hire a PI to track them down, kidnap them and bring them to a warehouse for questioning. Which, for the author, is very frustrating.
